Adaptive Headlight Mechanical Failure (2011 335d)
Greetings,
I suspect the following happened after a large pothole hit in NYC, but regardless of cause the adaptive feature of my headlights is not functioning. The electronics and connections appear fine and no error has been thrown on the ODB2 or info center. After reviewing other posts online, I suspected that just the connector for the stepper motor had come undone. However, I opened up the access panel and the whole mechanism was floating around in the bay. Additionally, the silver ring (see photos) is not seated properly. It appears impossible to reconnect it properly without taking the full assembly out of the car, but it may be best at this point to just buy a new assembly. I'm not sure what path to take here and would appreciate input/insights from the group. Thanks in advance, JB |

Yes, the lens needs to come off to fix that. You can get new lenses and rebuild yours or just replace it with a whole new unit. It's a big job because they're permasealed and the lenses have to be cut off first but it is doable.
