Erasing Homelink Button
I'm about to sell my car. I'd like to erase/reset the homelink button in the car so that it no longer opens my garage door. I've done a quick search, but no definitive answer. Anyone done this before selling their car?

havent done this, but if i was gonna try something, i would say you're gonna need the guys garage door opener to reprogram your old code w his new one. ...not sure. i dont know if you can just erase it. probably have to replace it w another code. again not sure just guessing.

I couldn't find an answer anywhere but I figured it out myself.
What worked for me was to start the engine and hold the button down for like 10-15 seconds. It should go from rapid blinking green to slow blinking orange. Release the button and it's ready for programming. (I don't know if this clears it, but you do want to reprogram, right?) The engine needs to be running. Accessory/start mode will time out, causing the blinking to stop before it resets. |
