Side/daytime running lights faulty on aftermarket headlights!

Hello everyone, I'd like to share my recent experience in fixing some "plug and play" headlights from bayoptiks/SJC. I had purchased the GTS/ CS style headlights for e92 and encountered an issue with the DRL shutting off when low beams activate, regardless of if they were activated manually or through automatic light control. They would also not activate when unlocking which was unfortunate as they had a sick activation animation.

I would get the following messages;
"Side/daytime lights on left faulty!"
"Side/daytime lights on right faulty!"
when the low beams would activate and consequentially shut the DRLs off. I would have to then turn the car fully off, and set the light dial to "0" for them to reactivate, only to shut off again after a few seconds when low beams were reactivated.

After days (literal days) of poking around in protools i was able to find a fix. essentially what was happening, was that the DRL's would short out when low beams came on due to increased voltage on the relay, however after turning off the short circuit monitor (just look up short circuit/voltage in protool's search bar) there should be two coded values, select the one without a star. after that, I began setting the following voltages via the FRM module on protools, I was finally able to get them to work!

DRLs: 13.0V
DRL with low beam: 12.6v
DRL with high beam: 12.6v

and manually activate everything to do with angel eye, DRL, park light in the name (in terms of activation) to active.

In terms of the start-up animation, set all of the DRL/angel eye/park light welcome light settings to "direct on"/ "hard on"(haha) and sure enough it'll play the animation!

I found that you had to activate multiple modules/parameters per light so make sure to double/triple check everything when it comes to the activations.

I hope this helps someone, as I couldn't for the life of me find a solution on the forums for these new headlights as they came out roughly 3-4 months ago at the time of posting!

here are some pics of the new lights along with the start-up animation, THEY LOOK AMAZING

Feel free to PM me/ reply for any questions! I just finished doing the fix, it's coming to 9pm on day 4 and don't want to look at protools for a while, but give me a shout if you need any help!
