G8x Seat Conversion into E9x
Yes, It’s Possible.
According to what I’ve been able to gather from the Internet, no one has been able to successfully transfer G8x Seats (Comfort or Bucket) into an E-chassis car without losing functionality and/or fault codes present. This is no longer the case. To my knowledge I show you the first known E9x car with G8x Seats, including full functionality; Movement, Lumbar, Side-Bolster, Heating, Seat-Belts, Illuminated Logo, Etc. All with absolutely zero codes or faults. I bought these Tartufo Brown G8x M3 Seats almost an entire year ago with the hopes of figuring it out on my own. While I had some progress with functionality on my own, the vast majority of it I was not able to make work such as; Heating, Side Bolsters, Lumbar, Air-Bags, Vertical Movement, and the entire Passenger Side was not working. The way I went into the project was gathering the wiring diagrams for both E9x and G8x, tried to match the respective wires from both cars and repin the connector to accept the E9x seat connector into G8x Seat Module. Like I said earlier, this resulted in pretty much a failure, 90% wasn’t working and I had all types of faults. Reached out to multiple well-known coders who pretty much immediately turned me down telling me it’s impossible, with some explaining in detail how they have already tried this conversion, to no avail. Also ended up frying my airbag module trying this way. This is where Bobby from EuroWerkss comes into play. I found a thread within the F8x Forums that EuroWerkss had created stating that they have released a Kit to transfer G8x Seats into F8x Cars without losing any functionality or codes present (an issue that Kies doesn’t mention in their “conversion” video). Scrolled through the thread for a little and found that they are actually working on an E9x conversion Kit as well, they just needed a customer who’s willing to try it for the first time. What a surprise. Already had the seats sitting, so I decide to send it and order the kit. While at first I was a little skeptical on price (mind you, these aren’t the M Bucket Seats, so price is relative), after receiving the kit and seeing the contents, as well as seeing how much research went into making this actually work, I understood. The kit comes with two brand new modules, new connectors, various needed hardware, wiring, seat belt adapters, extremely detailed instructions, and unbelievable customer support throughout the entirety of the process. Bobby was quick to answer any questions, issues, or doubts I had during the time leading up to the purchase of the kit, and all the way through the end. The process was fairly straightforward, though tedious, but that is expected when dealing with wiring. The instructions are color coded and thorough, while the kit is not plug-n-play, you should not have any issue with going through it, and if you do, Bobby will surely answer any questions you may have. Moving onto to the seats themselves. My E90 335d has 170k miles with Oyster Interior, which as you can guess no longer looks like “Oyster”, at least for the driver seat. So when it comes to condition and overall shape of the seat, these seats are 100x more aesthetically pleasing than regular Sport E9x Seats. The bolsters hug you slightly more than E9x, especially the bottom bolsters. One thing I immediately noticed was a significantly lower seating position, an issue that many complain about in E9x where the driver sits too high. I had to immediately change the position of my steering wheel as it was this much of a difference, which was a bit of a nice surprise for the conversion. Pictures of course will be attached to this thread however the rest of the interior is still Oyster at the moment, has yet to go through the process of either dying or reupholstering, both processes will be used for different parts of the interior. Also waiting for an updated steering wheel as you can tell this one has gone through some abuse. Will be updating this thread as I progress throughout this project. If anyone knows where I can source custom Seat Emblems, or maybe a place where I can send these out to change from M3 to 335d, would be appreciated. (I may have also acquired a full set of extended leather interior pieces from an E9x M3, which will become Tartufo Brown). Last edited by Mikewysz; 08-21-2025 at 07:20 PM.. |

interesting. I currently am stumped on my seat conversion.
My setup: 2009 LCI E90 Originally electric sport seats with heating, with black driver side seat module (unlike other LCI white driver side seat module/f chassis) I retrofitted the oem seats from my A90 Supra. Converted connectors on chassis side to A90 supra (same yellow connector as F/G chassis, just different pinout). Passenger side, everything works except seat heating. Button will light up on center console, but never heats up. Still using A90 Supra passenger side seat module. Using factory E9X seat belt buckle. No airbag codes. Driver side, seat heating does not work, and when button is pressed, lights up for 2 seconds, then turns off. Also using A90 supra white seat module. Also, driver side doesnt seem to "wake up" due to maybe CAN wakeup? I have to jiggle the seat position switches for a few seconds, then seat will "wake up" and see power and i can then adjust seat to my liking. Bolsters work as well as motors, just not seat heating. Using factory E9X seat belt buckle. No airbag codes either. I'm wondering if Eurowerkss might be able to offer kit for A90 Supra since it should technically be same as G chassis?
