Looks like I'll be driving up to southern ON (mainly the GTA) during winter months fairly regularly for the foreseeable future, and I'd like to select a winter tire for our E90 328i accordingly. What do you all like to run? Hit me with your favorite makes and models!

Do you prefer a "Nordic" type winter tire, which goes balls-out for snow/ice traction at some expense to wet/dry? E.g., Michelin X-Ice, Continental VikingContact, Nokian Hakkapeliitta, Bridgestone Blizzak WSxx, etc.

Or do you prefer a "continental European" or performance winter tire, which is still good on snow/ice and much better on wet/dry? E.g., Pirelli Cinturato Winter, Michelin Pilot Alpin, Continental WinterContact TSxxx, Bridgestone Blizzak LMxxx, etc.

I feel like my knee-jerk reaction is to go for a Nordic type, but... how often does southern ON see the kinds of conditions where Nordic-type tires really shine?

Both of my year-round bimmers have Michelin X-ice's on during winter months. They are fine but driving in deep snow needs extra attention. Leave more space between you and the vehicle ahead of you and brake very gently.
