I have a service plan with BMW, and my car was booked in for an oil change today, they collected the car and a few hours later was told they could not carry out the work under the service plan, as the iDrive says 4000 miles remaining

Now at 9000miles my car went in for a progman update, when I got it back, the service indicator was reset to 20000 miles remaining (when I sent it in, it said 7000 remaining, so I was expecting a service at 16000), even though no service was carried out. I called up to complain, they said not to worry, just bring it in at 16000 miles.

The dealer has since been taken over. They used to be Stratstone, now Specialist Cars BMW, and they are unable to access any previous files)

I have written to BMW customer service, but in the mean time, I thought I would check what mileage you guys are getting before you need the first oil change

Think mine was 18k mate. The old dealer of yours was daft to re-set the oil service indicator.

Well not using them anymore, even though, they changed management, same old people working there. I am now using Elms BMW in Bedford, I can understand why they can't do the oil change under the service plan, without getting the info varified by the old useless dealer. But it aint making my life easy.

While you are there dxb, could you tell me what tyres you are now using, I just upgraded to 19" and got the RE05's, comfort seems OK, no real tramming, but traction is crap when cold, gets a bit better when warmed up. But nowhere near as good as the 452's or the PS2's. Im using 40PSi rears and 38PSI front

Im running Conti Sport contact 3's I am too struggling for grip this winter. I cant hardly accelerate at all. They are good tyres in the summer though. We just have too much torque for winter times lol.

Get them to check the key reader computer because if car was booked in they can see what it said then and does not have to be the orginal dealer either that way.

Keyreader just relays what the car says, There is no service record on it. If I had used the old key the day before the oil change was reset, and not used it since, it would back my info up. But that aint the case

Ok It does work I have seen it done I used to work for a BMW Dealer you need to use the keyreader program not the key reader itself I learnt this because when trying to verify service history you get more info than on view data.

I had mine done at 19k miles, which was 200 miles over.

I've got the PS2's and no problems with winter grip for me

1st Service at 20,000 ish. Brake fluid just 3000 miles later, why couldn't they do it at the same time?

I have the PS2 as well and grip is an issue on these salty greasy roads when you have 450+ lb/ft torque coming in at 1750 rpm! you need a sensitive right foot. If you don't hit peak torque until over 6000rpm then you have a moment or two to think about it!

(Just jealous of the proper sports car engine, but with my mileage I couldn't afford the juice!)

Nah even the 330i is tail happy at this time of year.

Pulled into the bottom of my road tonight in fake manual auto mode, DSC lit up like like a christmas tree through first second and partly into third, doubt I got beyond 4-5k in any gear. All part of the fun though

BMW have come to their senses and agreed to service my car now, which has 15800 miles. Goes in tomorrow.

I paid £745 for the 60k 5 year service plan, and hope to get as many services out of them as possible. I will def get 3, but wonder if I could push for 4

I have been, but I reckon, to try get a service to come up in less than 15000 miles, its gonna break. And not to think of the extra cost of tyres

Well car came back today, all looks OK. Just wondered if is normal for the service light saying 22000 miles remaining, I thought 20000 was the normal. Am I being done?

There is no fixed servicing intervals - it is calculated as Condition Based Servicing (CBS) - the harder the car is driven, the quicker the mileage-counter will decrease...
