Garmin Nuvi GPS Mount (Kuda)
Here are some pics of my Garmin GPS navigation mount. The bracket and adapter are from Kuda and can be found at http://www.kudausa.com
Didn't like some of the mounts that are near the ashtray as you would be distracted too much from the road by looking down. Will have to find some way to hardwire the thing and then it would be perfect for me! Front shot. Angled toward the driver. This is the optional adapter which I bought to mount the Garmin's stock plastic mounting piece: Side view: |

10 minutes to drill holes in the mount to attach the adapter to the mount via supplied bolts and nuts. A couple of minutes to install the actual mount. It's really easy!!!

so no drilling of the dash to put the kuda mount on ?? i am very tempted to do this because it looks cleaner and doesnt block the air conditioning vent...

Very nice ... do you run off of batteries, or did you somehow hide the wiring?

Absolutely none - fully removable without leaving any marks. I didn't like some of the other options like clips and cupholder mounts.

Right now the wiring is exposed. I would love to hardwire the thing and hide it. Some of the other mounting threads show the wire being run behind the trim piece. I haven't really done it yet because I have to buy another car adapter cord. Didn't want to use my existing cord because I use this GPS for other cars during our vacations...

You don't have to buy a Garmin power adaptor. Any inexpensive no-name-brand USB cellphone/mp3 charger will work (some may not have enough oomph to charge the battery at the same time though).

Why not just put the antenna in the air vent? Push then vent up, slide the antenna down, voila easy and secure. I did this in my X and it worked well...seems to also work in the new 3er.
Please excuse the bad bad pic... |

I don't think that's very safe. A good bump may shake the GPS out of the vent, and you don't want to deal with that when you are driving.
I heard someone's sucktion cup broke loose while driving on highway; the GPS hit the gear lever and shifted the car into 2nd. Quote:

I just ordered a mount base and add-on for the Tom Tom Go 920! I've been looking for a clean way to mount it --- this by far is the cleanest look!
I'm just glad no drilling of the dash is required. Awesome find!!

I really like this option because you do not have to drill the dash.
Do you know if it is possible to snap a cover on the mount so it doesn't stand out so much when the GPS is not attached? Something like the first picture in this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...1&postcount=27 |

Not sure there is a nice solution to cover up the ball mount. Would love to see one if there is. |

I would like to know as well.
The link in IronMike's was a BMW nav unit (essentially a Garmin). And yes, that requires drilling the dash.

If by cheap you mean free, then yes it is. I think ghetto is when they are suction cup'ed to the window blocking your full view. I drove my X very aggressively actually and the nuvi did just fine. It fell once in the 3er just because the power cord was attached. It works very well for me, but to each his own.
