Latest lease deals

Couple of years ago you guys highlighted the MB SLK 6+23 lease at £199 + VAT and my daughter's been driving the deal of decade ever since. Her lease is coming to an end and of course she now faces the problem of finding a similar type of car for anything like the same money.

Having driven Audi TTs and the SLK, her main criteria is performance (under 6.7 seconds 0-60), so 2 or 4 seats, saloon, coupe or cab would all be fine

Anyone know of some bargain basement leases for under £350 monthly with the prerequisite performance?

Taking this one for an example

http://www.gateway2lease.com/z_ford_...p#.U7In2XpwYm9

That's £6k to own the car 2 years. But you can buy it new for just around £15750 (drivethedeal.com) and i'd guess it would be worth quite a bit more than £10k in 2 years time.

But 99% of people won't be cash buyers, so even though the car costs £15750 you will have to pay interest on top of the purchase price meaning the overall cost in comparison will be more.

I get what you're saying and leasing generally works out better on expensive cars but it's also a good way of getting into a brand new car with only paying a small deposit and low monthlies. Albeit not necessarily the bargain of the century.

I'd add though, if you are changing cars every 2 years and after only 8k miles per year, you are not short of money

The fiesta bought, over 4 years is a lot cheaper.

But I guess there are people who just like getting their wife a new car every 2 years?

Ah yeh very good point.

Need to look past myself!! I buy cars in cash like a crazy fool! (actually that's a lie - the fast datsun was funded at 3.9% which was less than my offset mortgage)

Who buys their wife a new car every 2 years! (Palmnuts need not apply)

Either she is very good or very bad....or both!!

I'd love an ST3 at circa £15800 and get rid of the OH's 59 polo 1.2. But she's looking to switch to Social Work (student for next 2 years) and claims she needs a normal car to drive people about in (and doesn't a flash car while a student either), and the ST3, X5 or Fast Datsun don't meet that criteria. Plus the Polo is hers...Pffffftt. She's just boring!

Sorry this is off topic, where do you keep up to date with Palmnuts car changes now, not seen one of his posts for ages? Enjoyed his reviews and the justification/man maths for the changes were something else!

He's still around - but I must admit I mostly keep up with him through social media these days ...

He's already talking about the M3 on F30post though, just have a look!

Seen as the Golf R deals have gone as well, the Seat version looks good:

stop it! confusing me!

I had an email with an offer for a 225d m-sport for under £300 inc VAT.
But they havent responded to my interest, and looking at other prices that was definately way too cheap.
Will see if I can find the email.

The Golf R deals were a complete shambles!

Something like 95% of the deals were cancelled by VW because lease companies were trying to submit personal lease customers as business users!

Some very miffed people about atm.
