More water pump/cooling issues

I've been having issues with the cooling system*in my car. Only when I drive it hard for long periods of time, like the track, it would cut power and vent a lot of coolant. The funny thing was the fact that the water temp as reported by the hidden menus showed on average a few degrees less than 100C which is what I see on the freeway. The last 3 *track days have been frustrating because it had not happened on the previous 3 track days.*Leading up to the power-loss the water temp is 80C-83C then slowly climbs to 100C.

Two weeks ago my water pump failed completely on the freeway. I got the red warning light which comes on at 125C. The yellow warning will come on at 120C. After it was replaced I thought the overheating issues were a thing of the past. The exact thing is still happening but now with an error code. It says "electrical cooling pump low power mode" followed by the freeze frame information. Power is reduced 76%. This error occurs about 3-5 miles before the car cuts power or gives me the yellow warning.

The only place I can duplicate the error is on the track. I haven't been able to get it hot enough on the road. Looks like an electrical issue though. Anyone have any thoughts?

Possibly your aux fan is taking a shi7 on you? They dont throw codes when they take a dump usually.

I can hear fan going. But that shouldn't matter because of the speeds I see at the track. And it doesn't overheat in stop and go traffic. But that water pump code is interesting. What causes a "low power mode" to trigger?

First off, whats the condition of the battery ? Fairly new ? I would assume a "low power mode" is that the DME is sending a command to the water pump, but why low power ? Have you tried to actviate the water pump through BT and see if it will throw a fault ?

I've tried to send water pump delivery rate 95% but nothing seems to happen. Also the battery is original. Almost 7 years old and LOTS of cycles. No battery codes though or even slow cranks for that matter. Very puzzling.

You have managed to get seven years out of your OEM battery..Holy hell..I know for a fact if I do a water pump command..I can hear my pumping. I would imagine your should do that same since we have same exact motor/DME.. When you replaced the water pump you also changed your thermostat ? Is your Fan working properly ?

Does the car have to be running to activate the water pump? And yes the fan works great. I have to check on the thermostat though.

Anyone have any ideas on how to duplicate the issue. It's really easy on the track but I can't find any place where I can be full throttle that long.
