320d Engine Mods, Loading Alpina Flash?

We're just about to swap the turbo and injectors on my brothers 320d for those from a D3 Alpina (the early single turbo version).

It struck me that while we plan to get the car remapped, starting from a factory baseline that matches the turbo and injectors is probably a good idea, as it means less work for the tuner. It also ensures some level of safety while driving the car after the parts have been changed.

I've noticed in another thread, people were flashing the Alpina tune onto stock 320d's and finding a boost in performance, so i'm fairly happy that flashing the Alpina tune onto the cars ECU will work just fine, the only caveat being our car doesnt have a DPF, but from what i can tell all that will do is bring the engine light on, and its already on due to the deleted EGR anyway. However i realised something when reading the other thread...

Those people were flashing the D3 map onto stock cars, WITHOUT the larger injectors, and yet still found a boost in performance. I would have thaught the new map wouldnt have run properly, due to the incorrect injector calibration. Which then has me wondering if theres somehow a seperate injector calibration stored somewhere, that wasnt updated when those people flashed the D3 tune?

Thoughts/ideas?

Wasn't the original D3 a M47 engine therefore not having a DPF?

DPF was an optional extra on the M47 E90's and all the Alpina D3's had the DPF fitted, so the only factory software available is DPF enabled.

The tuner will sort that out when it comes to remap time ofcourse so its not a major issue. Just trying to get my head round the software/injector calibration stuff.
