help with shorted wires in controller loom

#apologies to those who've already read this post in the uk section

ok, this can serve as a request for help and a thread thats a warning not to be dumb when working on your car.

I've had a loose connection on the idrive controller for a long time.
decided to sort it one evening over winter, since i now drive to work for the new job, its an hour each way and i've discovered athletico mince.

jumped in the car took the controller out, took the cable off, worked out the connections werent making and decided to reset the pins in the connector block. took them out of the block and managed to let them touch, shorting out what i think are the two canbus wires.

yeah, i was dumb enough to do this with the ignition on. lesson learnt.

on the display in the dash, i saw the car on ramps symbol and the controller has not worked since.

so i retrofitted the cic install myself a few years back. i remember that the canbus feed for the controller is soldered into the loom behind the head unit, somewhere near where the emulator is connected up.

does anyone know which module i've confused with that dumb move? ive got inpa and have checked for errors and have the E104 can bus errors. ive removed them and still no worky.

as of yet ive not gone back out to work out what codes have returned.
