FYI, the 328 is nearly finished at Classic and once it is it'll be flatbedded to G-Speed at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson where it'll share a storage space and remain at the track permanently. Diff break-in can be done around Cresson and service done at G-Speed. And it'll be possible to run the track sessions for members until I get my own membership and garage to store the car there for good. Not likely to be more dynos for some time until G-Speed gets one in place. Might even just bail on the N52 for an S65, can't say for now.

We're not likely to see anything on that until fall, I'd think. An adapter has to be designed and fabricated to attach it to the bench first and there's the matter of his available time.

MILVs tune gets loaded Monday. Ordered an AxiaAlloys 17" panoramic mirror, 2.5" arms, 1.75"dia mount to replace the five panel Wink mirror. If I'd'a asked 'em I woulda known to get this to begin with...

This leaves only state inspection, corner balance and align, oil change, and brake/clutch flush and off it goes to MSRC.

Hey justpete, did the Ultra Racing strut brace have elongated holes to allow for the camber pin mod?

I'm considering getting one for now & upgrading to the mason strut brace in future when I'm richer lol

Pete’s E90

Hi guys,

I wanted to let y’all know that Pete’s E90 avoided that auction and now lives here in Austin. With the help of the boys at Classic BMW/ Fast Track Racing, I put together a deal to buy the car. It was delivered last week at COTA.

The plan is to shake the car down in the next couple of weeks and then run it in STU at the late June Majors event at COTA. It is a bit under prepared for the class, but the objective will be to get the car on track and get a baseline of where we are.

Pete and the boys at the shop built a beautiful bit of kit over the years. I’ve seen the car for quite a while in the race shop and then found the treasure troves of info posted here throughout the years.

Congratulations and thank you for posting this and letting us know about the status...

One thing that Pete never got a chance to do after all modifications was a dyno. Would it be too much to ask to dyno it and post the results?

You’re going to laugh. I need to get the diff run in and the fluid flushed. Diffsonline says to run it on a track day, change fluids, call it a day. That should happen relatively soon.

After that, I’ll pester the boys at Cobb to spin it on their Dyno.

Figured that I’d post this here.

Took the Blue Whale -the name given to the 328 by the fam- to the Classic BMW customer track day at MSR Cresson yesterday. Drove the car from Austin to Cresson, played, drove home (side bar- the $380 I spent on Tuesday for noise canceling headphones might be the best money I’ve spent on the car).

A few notes:

The tyres are 5-6 years old Toyo’s They’re junk and I knew that going in. This was just a systems check. The only thing done to the car besides fluid checks is lower the drivers seat.

The car pushes like a dump truck. We didn’t make so much as a tyre pressure adjustment, see above. The car is set up for Pete as a novice. With the switch to Hoosiers we will move towards a set up with a bit more rotation.

Most everything works. Diff pump is LOUD and the fan is in-op.

The car has no power. You’ve got to wring its neck and roll a lot of speed into the corner or you’re slow. This was most evident after 30 minutes in an M240iR where you could make corrections with the throttle. The last race car I was in was a Continental and the last thing I’d driven on track is an R8 V10+, so I had some un-learning to do.

Several of Pete’s real life friends were at the track and you’d have thought they’d seen a ghost when I rolled out for the first session. Everyone was really pleased that the car didn’t end up auctioned or scrapped.

The drive back home with the trashed RF tyre was hard on my arms.

I’m too little for Pete’s XL seat. Need to make an insert. And the belts aren’t super HANS friendly.

The car is headed back to Classic later this month to correct a few things and prep to run at COTA in STU.

Cheers-

BML

Any chance you could post a few pics, either from this event or just of the car? I’m curious to see how it looks inside and out. I didn’t realize the car had a diff cooler that’s interesting.

I’m over 40, so I’m a dummy.
