I'm making up two sets of winters now. I have two sets of style 188 17" alloys and I'm fitting one set out with part worn Dunlop Winter sports which I will probably sell on here. Minimum 4mm tread on all tyres.

I'm also lookung at fitting new Falken winter tyres to the other set as I can get 4 for £420 delivered.

I will have 4 almost new Bridgstone runflats to sell to offset cost a bit.

Where i live there are big hills onto and out of my village that suffer badly from ice etc.

All the cars I have seen abandoned at the bottom of the hills have been BMW, Mercs etc so I dont want to be one of them this year if we get a dumping of snow again.

I now have 8 alloy wheels and eleven tyres in my shed/garage

I think I need to see a therapist

What about snow socks OP? Have never used them personally but have heard great things about them.

Socks are designed to get you out of a situation. And good at doing so. They are not a permanent solution.

Unlike summer tyres (in the dry), tread depth is critical on winters. 4mm is basically worn out.

Yes thats my point. I might get the socks as normal tyres have been fine for me ever since i started driving. On the occasions where i get stuck the socks could help me out

Just a cheaper way of staying mobile.

It is getting cramped but I have them stored in my shed at the moment otherwise I wouldn't get my car in the garage

can't be arsed with investing in winter wheels just yet but read so many good things about the sottozero s2... that they are good to leave on all year round... I will see how that goes. If they are crap in the summer I will put the michellin zero pressures back on
