Door latching issue

Today I stopped and exited the car by pushing the button on the dash while the engine was running.
When I re entered the car. The door wouldnt close properly because the latch had returned to the closed position. IE It wouldnt close around the striker on the door pillar.

I locked and unlocked the door several times and also turned the car off. All to no avail.

I am at work and wont get to look at it until tomorrow.

My first idea is to disconnect the battery and see how that goes.

How is the door card removed?

Thanks for any ideas.

Pull the exterior door handle (even though the door is already open) it should fix the problem

Fixed thanks to you. It was indeed just a matter of pull the door handle. I was headed to work when it happened at 0200 in the morning and just panicked, never thought of the handle.

^ If that doesn't work, use a screw driver or a pen to flip the latch into the open position whilst pulling on the outside door handle.

Nice! Yeah its one of those things where the door is already ajar and you don't think of pulling the handle again. Only know from experience
