I bought one of the more expensive, good cables I think from Hong Kong a couple of years ago but have never had the balls to try it lol. One of those ideas that sound great until you hear stories like these! Top work from mak though

It's all good fun until you turn your pride and joy into a vegetable! Or even worse, unknowingly deactivate a safety system...

Glad somebody dug you out on this occasion

Error 4A63, car won't start

Guys,

I seem to have a similar issue on my E92 335D (08/2007), my INPA screens are like this, can you confirm the steps again please..

I press 'SHIFT + F8' to go into here:
<SHIFT>+<F8>E90 (E91, E92, E93) / 3er

when the next screen pops up I click on 'Engine' and then select 'DDE 6 for M57TOP/M57TU2'

then press 'F6' activate, then I have two options in German, one seems to be 'Sync to set' (translated) F1 and the other 'Reset' F2..

Any help appreciated, really need to get this car started ASAP.

Thanks.

Tich.

A big thank you to makkan00.

Here is what I did, even though mine is a E46.

I have BMTechnic cables and I messed around with the INPA because it seems like my EWS has some problem(a bit more later).

My fuel pump failed and replaced 2 weeks ago so I know how the fuel pump works. I got into INPA, selected the EWS - DME initialisation, selected the first option. Nothing change on the screen so I closed INPA. Then the car cranked but no start. Power still available at the fuel pump like normal at run position.

Everything looked normal but just it did not fire.

I went back to INPA, this time I follow makkan00's steps and select option 2(it is in German but google translator said it is "start value reset"). Press F10, quit INPA, disconnect the cable and turn the key, it fires immediately.

to get mine back to normal (no start issue..) I've used makkan00 solution but because error didn't left I've used "Clear Memory" option (I think F2 or F3) as you open "Engine" option after choosing the model of the car. Then the car started as a bliss

Sure can, shoot me an e-mail from the website, I'll send over the script. Only thing it requires is a BT Pro cable

I thought I would just mention this since nobody has...

If after using INPA your car just cranks but doesn't start on the next restart, take the negative lead of your battery, wait a moment, then put it back on and try and restart.

I had the issue of the car just cranking and not starting after using INPA (just to view injector mass adjustment values). Took power away from the electronic systems and after reconnecting worked fine....so something to try first!

Strange battery issue with MY08 X5 3.0si

I know this is an e90 forum but I think someone here can help me with battery issue from my MY08 X5.

My issue started about a month ago. I swapped new battery on my X5 back in Nov 2014 at 64K miles with a brand new AGM 90AH battery from Advance Auto Parts. I registered the new battery and confirmed that the it's set to 90ah_agm using NCS. So about a month ago, my X5 would not start at all and it would give all these Error code on the dash. I would tried to start it again and same issue. Then I would wait several minutes and tried again and it would start with no problem. So I thought it was fluke and everything was back to normal. Everything was good for about several weeks and then same thing happened 2 days ago. Drove to my son's soccer game and when we got back into the car to start it up, it did the same as before. Waited a little and then it wouild start again. It's been doing this the past several attempt.

Last night and into this morning - I have plugged in the cable to have been monitoring my battery using INPALOAD. My only issue is that I'm not sure I know what I'm reading. I'm hoping an expert on this forum can shed some light to what I'm looking at and can help me figure out what my issue is. I don't think it's battery since this this battery is only 6 months ago.

Solution:
Re-align the DDE and EWS

How you do it?

1- Launch inpa
2- Select the engine
3- Choose the model of the engine (in your case
DDE6 = 318d, 320d, 325d, 330d, 335d ( 03/2005 - 09/2007 )
DDE7 = 318d, 320d, 325d, 330d, 335d ( 09/2007 - )

4- Select option: activate (usually F5 but check in your inpa)
5- Select option: EWS
6- Select option: reset ----> in progress ----> click ok
7- Bak to the main menu, ie, back, back, back, and close the INPA
8- Open the inpa and check the errors. That errors should have gone by now.
9- Turn the ignition off, remove the obd connector and start your car.

Please share the results.
Epic to the point tutorial

This works a treat, thanks so much Makkan!!!

So the story...

Car had a flat battery this week, called the RAC, stood outside with the RAC guy in the freezing cold while he spend almost hour and a half trying to start my car up. Fiddles with the engine, air intakes, told me so many things that could be wrong with the car, fuel pump, alternater, glow plugs...
Finally after I suggested clearing error codes he hooked his diagnostics computer. He gave up in the end saying that his diagnostics computer is struggling with the EWS error. It wouldn't allow him to clear the EWS error.
Told me I'd have to get my car picked up on a tow truck and need it taken to a specialist to have the modules reset sounded very expensive.

I thought no! Took to the internet and found this, installed INPA, tried this and started straight away.

Is it true the expensive RAC diagnostics computer can't do this but my windows laptop with INPA can???
