Comes with BMW coding tool so you can easily import the heavy files to WINKFP, the rest is done.

I've got all the files and programs and im getting the caple tonight but I have to ask....

Is there any risk? Is it possible to brick the tcu? Are there possibilities that this could cause expensive repairs?

Better to be save than sorry

Brick, not really. The flash is relatively quick and isn't as power dependent like some of the other modules (CIC).

Side effects...? Well, if you happen to screw up your tranny while driving/tracking, you may have a hard time claiming against warranty if the dealer wants to dig. But, I haven't heard of any transmission issues after flash, especially any that would be directly related to the flash.

Thanks for the answer

Well, I installed all the programs, got INPA to recognise the car, imported SPdaten 53 but when I press "Update ZUSB" in WinKFP this is how it looks...

Any idea what is going on?

Assuming you used the BMW Coding Tool, you have to also click on update WinKFP.

If you didn't use that, then you need to copy the folders/files from the "data" folder to the EC_APPS\NFS\data folder.

If you don't have anything in the data folder within the DATENs you downloaded, then you only got the lite version, which isn't meant for flashing.

Yeah I seem to have messed up the importing. Fixed that but now when I choose ECU GKE215 I get the following errors.
(Thank you for taking the time to help )

Does this come with any full DATEN files as well? Really having a hard time finding a full newest version.

Just did newer Alpina flash 7603537 on mine, had the old flash for a few years and the new one is well worth doing, M and S modes are a little better, D is definitely better, might try the US Sport Flash also just to compare, but I highly recommend updating to the newer flash, definite improvement!

Anyone in the Bay Area willing to help me with this?

I had Elliot from from Detail Addicts do the flash for me about 2 years ago. It seems he is no longer there. Anyone in the Bay Area willing to help me on this. I can donate to you.
Thanks

On mine the 7615835 on downshifting the car seems to jump forward slightly even in D mode, but the 7603537 doesn't, it still rev matches which is good and quick up changing.
I'll stick to this one for now.

I want to try the 7603537 flash. I've been running the original Alpina flash for a few months now and do notice that the manual shifts do sometimes lurk forward. During light throttle in D mode the car does shift extremely early as everyone has mentioned. The only thing that was holding me back from flashing the 7603537 flash in the beginning was that I read it doesn't shift as fast as the original Alpina in manual mode? Any truth to this?

When I flashed the original I had my rpm gauges go to zero when shifting in Manual mode, I got this fixed by getting the DME updated from a independent dealer as mentioned in OP. My question is if I flash the 7603537 will my rpms go back to what it did when I originally flashed the Alpina? I don't want to have to pay to have the DME updated again. Thanks!

Edit: I think I was going based off of the ZB 7603527 flash instead of the 7603537 in terms of the slower manual shifts. Whats the difference between to two?

This is the best summary I have seen http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=310

7603527 is the 2011 regular flash - better than the early standard flash, no gear indicator, a little rev matching in M mode, but no where as good as the Alpina flash.

I am very happy with the new aplina flash over the old one - can't answer your tach going to zero problem as i have not seen that on my 2008 with either flash. I may try the US sport flash from the Z4 as it sounds the most agressive in M mode and shifts at higher rpm in D and S modes, but unfortunately doesn't have the gear indicators.

Thanks for the summary and link! I think I might take the risk and update mine to this. I'll repost back so other's will be aware if the rpms will drop or not after dme update and flashing.

I've had the flash 7603537 for a while now and I like it better its smoother and does not jerk the car forward when the car is downshifting.
The shifts are still fast just smoother, not as brutal as 7615835.

Just flashed 7603537. My paddles didn't work like before and I had to do step 2 in OP like the first time I flashed the original alpina b3. The good news is that it didn't have wonky rpm fluctuations this time, so I won't have to update my dme again like before!

Off the bat, I noticed that the car doesn't shift as soon and close together like the 7615835 in D. In manual mode though, I noticed a great improvement in shift response than the 7615835. Shifts this time seem pretty instant, on the original alpina 7615835 flash there was still a slight lag/delay between pressing the paddles and the car actually shifting. Downshifting and Rev matching seems to be better from the higher gears (4th and up), Downshifting from 3rd to 2nd is a lot better than before; on the original alpina it seemed that the Rev matching wasn't that good/smooth for me from 3rd to 2nd.

I'm glad I took the risk and flashed this, Great improvement over the original alpina. Not sure if I should reset the transmission data as some of you have said? Not sure how I would go about doing that, or if it's even needed.

Thank you so much for this! This is probably the best car community on the web.

I think the alpina flash really resonates with my driving style, no regrets whatsoever. Really makes the car seem like a new 7 or 8sp auto/DCT, and I would highly recommend it to anyone that is contemplating the flash.

Can someone please direct me in the right direction or PM me a link to download the necessary tools (NCIS, WinKFP, etc.)? I can't seem to find them at all! I even went as far as to checking Pirate Bay and absolutely nothing is popping up for me!

Someone please help, <3

Once I have the appropriate peripherals, I'm sure I'll be able to handle everything else on my own as I'm fairly teach-savvy--I just cannot seem to find what's necessary to even get started. Even after skimming through almost every Alpina B3 related thread. :'(

You need:
1) Standard Tools 2.12 (it contains WINKFP)
2) sp-daten (version with data files GKE215
- I will PM you this software.

You also need a k+dcan cable. If you don't have it yet, please let me know and I will tell you which one you should buy. If you have it then you are ready to do a flash right after software installation.
