325i 06 alignment messed up

Hi,

I hit something on the freeway while going pretty fast and messed up my right front struts and my alighment... I went to the dealership and they said because my car is so new no one will be able to do aligment... is that true?? or are they BSing me??? Also they are charging me 550 dollars JUST for alignment alone... that is the cheapest among 5 dealerships... Other prices were like 820 760 650

Is it ok to let a 3rd party fix my alignment or can only the dealer do it?

Also I heard E90Fleet can get the spec's for the alignment, if your reading this message can you help me out?

Thanks again!

well you should be careful if you go somewhere else, because when bmw does alighment they weigh the car down with weights. I dont know why they do that but thats what my tech told me.

I'm getting my alignment checked out too. The service advisor told me that if it's less than 1200 miles, then the alignment should be free of charge. Lucky for me, I'm at about 1125. I'd check around some more, maybe contact BMWNA?

$550 for alignment ???...that is the MOST BS I've ever heard of from any forum!!! LIFETIME alignment at Firestone/Bridgetone is less than $150!!! WTF...

Dear BMW,
I'm in the market for a car in the low $30k price, and I'm considering the MB C-class or BMW, but now I 've made up my mind, and I won't get a BMW cuz I can't afford the alignment

From the BMW website:

Full Maintenance covers all factory-recommended maintenance on all MY 2004 vehicles and newer vehicles, as determined by the Service Level Indicator, for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Exclusions from coverage: gasoline, gasoline additives, windshield washer additives, tires, wheels, wheel alignment, tire balancing and rotation. All work must be performed by an authorized BMW center. See the Service and Warranty Information booklet for more details and exclusions.

about 75 bucks at any decent tire shop, using the same laser system that BMW uses. Takes 10 minutes.

Any good wheel alignment place with the computerized laser system should have factory alignment specs for any car. Only question is if the E90 is too new for the specs to be in their computer. But you can find out by simply asking.

And yes, $550 is ridiculous.. to give you perspective, my local Porsche dealer charges $350 for alignment (which is already pretty silly).

Good luck.

I'm guessing with personal damage, they gotta fix all the components first and then charge you say $70-80 max for a one-time alignment afterwards (don't know if this is included in a bodyshops price)

Like I said above, call up an alignment shop that uses the laser/computer alignment machine and ask if they have the specs for the 06 325 already in their system. Then, if they have a reasonable price, you can just use them instead of being ripped off by the dealer.

most of the places around here do not have the spec's for 06 325i, where would I obtain these spec's for the system?
