Do you have bluetooth in your car? thats my first question. If you dont know, do you have a BMW Assist button?

Or do what i did. Parrot CK3000 bluetooth kit with QuickConnect harness and a SW101 controller box. Parrot kit, the harness and the controller box plug into the back of your stereo, you get 100% OEM look for about $350. Pretty easy to install, but i had to run the mic wire up the A pillar to the overhead console. The only downside of this, is that it does not upload your phone book onto the stereo and no caller ID (on the stereo) Took me about 2 hours to install, but i've had it for almost a year now and pretty satisfied with it. http://www.quickconnectproducts.com

It is not that expensive. I am seeing one OEM sold on Ebay for under $200.

Avoid ebay at all costs. The BMW retrofit cost me 1100 and I LOVE it. There is no "cheap" way to do it. You need specific parts for your car and you can't get these parts from ebay.

There is an OEM Ipod Adaptor. And thats around $200, but yet again, that part is specific to your vehicle, so buying something off of ebay is a recipe for disaster.

You have obviously not done the retrofit. I have. Even in the same style of car, ie 328i, the TCU you get and the parts you get depend on the date of manufacture of your particular vehicle and the options your car has installed. And there is no simple one part and you get retrofit. Hell, the TCU isnt even the most expensive part!

I often wish people would read this before posting opinions about BT retrofitting as fact. I myself wasted hours researching this mostly because of misinformation.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85149 That sticky is definitive. The stearing wheel adapter + parrot kit is about $300+ The parrot is not an option with a 6 speaker system. Why? because it can only mute 4. No vehicle integration whatsoever but the buttons. For that you need a MOST device. There is one MOST device from Mobridge. The device is alluring -but- the car has to be programmed with a cd changer before installing it. If you don't have one you're SOL. If you do, you throw it away after install. Ebay sellers do not do this kind of research before posting auctions. Last edited by fdiprete; 05-20-2009 at 06:56 AM.. |

I've actually just ordered this:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...tent-_-text-_- I'll see if it's any good. Seems like a decent cheap alternative, as I barely use the phone when I'm driving anyway. |

You should be able to enter your own passkey and enter it again on your phone when you make the pairing - or at least thats how mine worked when I paired my phone 2 hours ago. When you go to sync your phone, there is a numeric tag after BMW ie. BMW 12345 that should pop up on your phone. I simply entered that tag ie. 12345 on the passkey prompt and again when I paired the phone. Works fine.
