Wheel selection
Hello. Please help me find a decent set of affordable wheels.
I have a 2010 335i Coupe with sport package. That's E90 with N54, sport suspension and sport wheels (I think those are 19" from the factory). Car is factory Space Grey in color. I've got some Koni Yellow Sport shocks and struts paired with H&R lowering springs in the mail. They probably arrive today. I want some new wheels, and, of course, will have to buy new tires. The style I like would be like these examples: Avant Garde M615 http://www.agwheels.com/m615.php Strasse R10 http://strassewheels.com/product/r10-deep-concave-fs/ VMR 713 http://www.uspmotorsports.com/Wheels...-SET-OF-4.html HRE RS103M http://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-rs1m/rs103m Volk ZE40 You get the idea, everyone out there makes a wheel with this style. The thing that makes finding what I want difficult is I want bronze wheels. I like that deep bronze like you'd see on a Volk TE37 Bronze: https://www.wheelplususa.com/images/...G_TE37_BRZ.jpg I also don't know much about sizing wheels. I'd like to stay staggered. So I guess that would put me at 19" with 11" wide in the rear and 19" with 9.5" in the front? I don't want any issues with rubbing. So willing to go a little skinnier. I prefer wider, though, because I'm full bolt on and I could use the grip. I'm no opposed to rolling the fenders. Although I'm hopeful that rolling them doesn't make getting the plastic shrouds in the wheel well hard to get out. So I'm trying to find that wheel style in that wheel color, that will fit my car, but not break the bank. The challenge is to find a wheel set that runs around $350 per wheel or less. I'm hoping you wheel experts that have knowledge about the various brands out there can point me in the right direction. Like while I was writing this post I discovered a site named carid.com and they had a brand named Niche with a wheel named "Form". I have no idea of quality. They also are not quite as wide as someone recommended I get. Thanks so much! Last edited by SackOHammers; 05-31-2016 at 11:32 AM.. |

I just got these. $1950 shipped wit out tires. They're the sizes you want but with the tires I got you gotta roll and stretch your fenders. If you just want good upsized wheels over oem, get 19x8.5 et30 front, 19x9.5 et35 rear, 235/35-19 front, 275/30-19 rear and call it a day.
Ordered wheels. Brushed Antique Copper Avant-garde M590. 19x8.5 et30 front, 19x11 et43 rear. They're coming with Bridgestone Potenza RE11 245/35-19 front and 305/30-19 rear premounted and pressure sensors installed. Silver valve stems and extra set of chrome lugs thrown in. Arrives early July. |

I like the color. But like I said in my post, its not the wheel style I'm looking for.
I know it's very popular to put the CLS "UVUVUVUV" style wheels on a bimmer, but it's not my thing. I'm looking for the wheel types I listed and linked to in OP. I really like the color of the wheels you bought, though. I think a bit "shiney" for me. I'm looking for that deeper antique bronze look. |

Maybe the Niche Form, which is a less expensive alternative to the Avant Garde M615
http://www.carid.com/niche-wheels/fo...FQiUaQodAL8DkQ Or maybe the KMC 691. I was leaning towards these, but the more I look, the more unsure I am. The color may not be right for me. It also looks like it might have a bit of a rough cast texture to it. http://www.carid.com/kmc-wheels/km69...-44171335.html They have 35mm positive offset. In a perfect world they'd be more concave. But I'm not going to get everything I want when I'm looking for an inexpensive wheel. I realize I have to sacrifice some things from the ideal. With either of those choices of 19" I could go 9.5" in the rear and 8.5" in the front. 235/35ZR19 fronts and 265/30ZR19 in the rear What does the "et30 and et35" mean? Is that offset? |

If you are willing to consider 18" check out the HRE FF15s. They are made in Japan, and cheaper than HRE forged wheels. I love mine.

Thanks guys, some great information there.
I found the Niche Form available in the right size with the 5x120 bolt pattern. Looks like the HRE FF15s are available in 19" with 5x120. But after getting them bronzed, they're quite a bit more than I can spend. http://www.getyourwheels.com/view-wh...ed-ff15-tarmac Was looking at VMR V701 or V713 to see if they can be bronzed like that Avant Garde "Liquid Metal Bronze" color they have for their M615's. http://www.**********s.com/Velocity-...tyle-Wheel.htm http://www.avantgardewheels.com/m615.php |

So they do! Did you check the HRE website? FF15s are available in two different shades of bronze from HRE. http://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/hre-flowform/ff15
Here is one: Black BMW M4 with FF15 in IPA And here is the other: Volkswagen Golf R with FF15 isn Sarsparilla And here is my car!: BMW 335i with FF15 in Liquid Silver What size tires are you going to put on them? I put 255/35/18 front and 275/35/18 rear on mine and the offsets were perfect, but I did install camber plates and roll the fenders at the same time to make sure they wouldn't rub. If you have questions you can contact Greg at HRE, he is the Flow Form guy and helped me figure out what to order. |

Hey all, still trying to understand tire sizing and coming up with so many questions. I hope you can help.
* When I go to carid or one of these other sites (Tire rack didn't have the wheels I was looking for), when I pick the wheels I want, they don't give me an option for 275 in the rear. So if I go and look at the KMC 691 in 19" diameter with 8.5" wide front and 9.5" wide rear, the largest tire options they give me are 235/35/19 front and 265/30/19 rear. But I've read online that I could go with 275/30/19 rear. * When you guys say you like the Michelin Pilot Super Sports, do people usually get PSS or PSS2? * I often hear it recommended to go 235/35 front and 265/30 rear, but when I use a tire calculator, it looks like the fronts have a larger total diameter. That seems strange to me. I would think 235/35 front and 275/30 rear would be more natural. https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc...5r19-265-30r19 https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc...5r19-275-30r19 * The front wheel is 8.5" wide. But when I look at tires that are 235/30, that is 235mm or 9.25 inches. Is it reasonable to put that on an 8.5" wheel? Or do I need to go with a wider wheel? Or stick with a 225/30 tire on the 8.5" wheel? * The rear wheel is 9.5" inches wide. If I try to put a 275 mm or 10.83" wide tire on there, how does that work? I hear it recommended on the forum, but can it really stretch that far? Is this why carid would only show me a 265 mm or 10.43" option? Thanks. I'm finally starting to understand what some of these numbers mean, but that just makes me more confused, haha. Appreciate it. |

265 is all they list on any site because they always want to leave a conservative buffer
PSS is Pilot Super Sport not PS2 Pilot Sport 2. 235/35-19 & 245/35-19 work with 275/30-19. 235/35-19 works with 265/30-19. These all fall in the realm of close enough except for x drive vehicles. An 8.5 wheel is actually ideal for a 235 or 245 tire. They are manufactured to work with that size wheel with the sidewalls performing correctly. Same with the 275. You can go as low as 9 and high as 10.5 with 9.5 the sweet spot for handling and treadwear. |

Go on tirerack, look at the PSS Tire and read the specs for the different sizes. 1/2" is max you want to do in difference in diameter front to rear, wheel size rsnge, etc. Go here and click on the specs tab.

I love that the BMW center caps fit in the Apex wheels. I wanted the BMW logo on my wheels but had to stick one on top of the HRE center caps. Minor point, and I love my HRE wheels, but still worth mentioning.

Well, those are cool wheels. But they aren't the size, design, or color I was looking for in my OP. But these are friendly forums, I don't mind you showing off your sweet wheels here, haha.
As for the centercaps. I may be a little crazy, but I'm actually leaning towards not putting the roundels in my centercaps. The car already has so many roundels. Everyone already knows its a BMW. If you go with nice wheels from a nice brand, I don't mind seeing the brand in the centercaps. It's all aesthetics, and I may sound like an idiot to some, but I actually like, for one example, the lowercase "ag" on the Avant Garde centercaps. |
