Idle vibration with 3 stage manifold + tune?
I recently installed a 3 stage manifold, Euro airbox, and silicone intake tube, and installed a tune for the manifold. After a few adaptation resets everything seems to be working normally except I can feel a vibration at idle. It's not large but is definitely noticeable through the seat, and the tach needle moves up and down a bit.
There are no codes. My scanner shows an idle setpoint of 720RPM and the actual idle values stay between about 710-730RPM. As I recall, prior to the manifold and flash, the engine would idle at about 600RPM on the tach, and the needle would be totally steady. Is this normal with the manifold and tune? Is it something that can be corrected? |

About 500 miles since installing the manifold and tune. I had to reset the adaptations a few times to clear a throttle code (apparently you have to use the pedal method instead of a code reader) but it’s been over 100mi since the last reset and I haven’t noticed an improvement in the idle shake.

this is a question to ask the tuner.
chances are they raised the idle rpm. I have a 3im and the bimmergeeks factoryish tune and there is no difference at idle from stock. |

Check you installed everything correct with the intake, especially the bottom of the each side of the boots.
If it still persists than its probably the eurobox. I had one installed on mine for 6 months and during that whole period I had a shaky idle along with air mass codes. I would give it a few hundred more KM's to adapt. If not trying switching back to your factory intake and see if it goes away. If it does the eurobox is your issue. |

Check your DISA valve operation. Do they open and close fully, and quickly? INPA can be used to test it. Also if your valve's seal is torn up and letting air get by
Here's what it looks like. Also take a good look at the CCV hose. I had a idle vibration JUST like you were describing and fixing my large DISA helped it.

Thanks for the tips. I had removed my valve cover shortly before the upgrade to change the ESS sensor and seal, and apparently screwed up the new gasket. There was a big enough gap on the driver side between two of the bolts for a lot of oil to leak out and almost certainly a vacuum leak to get in. Surprised it didn’t trigger a code but I’m going to replace the gasket again and see how the idle is.

The leaking VCG was the problem. With a new gasket and another throttle adaptation reset, it's back to idling smoothly.
