Fault code help 004cae

Anyone shed some light on this fault code?

Reading through the very minimal info i can find online it looks like i might need to replace the egr valve?
Is there any checks i can do before spending money on a part i may not need?

Have the mot due by the end of the week and the EML has been on from months and i thought it was something to do with the heated mirrors, but this 004cae code will not go away.

All help much appreciated

Seems unlikely that the emissions warning light will illuminate because of a fault with heated mirrors.

what scan tool are you using,,can you delve into the code to see live data etc

Im ising carly with there own adaptor.
Seems as though the EML is on because of the 4cae code, relates to the egr valve, have done the check and its not getting stuck open, is there anything else to check or is it time for a new one?
Dont mind buying and fitting a new egr valve but want to make sure its that before i spend over £200 in it

cheaper to blank it,,although it will need mapping out,,contact bwchiptune,,he can put you right,,and if your anywhere near him then he can sort it out,,essex
