iDrive Controller Wiring

Has anyone here hooked up an iDrive controller to an aftermarket headunit? I have a PAC module that retains steering wheel controls, and also support iDrive. I have been thinking about using an iDrive controller to have more programmable buttons.

I am assuming non-iDrive cars do not have the wiring for the controller, how would one go about that? This is just an idea i had, and may not be worth the effort..

I would say take this question to the idrive subforum.
Never seen it done here.

you might be able to look up schematics in the above.

There are updates to the idrive at Bimmer Retrofits. com

NBT Evo versions for instance.

idrive controller is just 4 wires. power, ground, can high, can low. You can pull them from anywhere, pretty much, and it'll "just work"

unless you get a 10-pin idrive controller. Don't get that one.
Also, don't get an f-series idrive touch controller. that uses can2, which is a different bus speed and won't work.
