Fuel Pump error Idrive message after lpfp stage 2 upgrade
Hi guys
Few days ago I upgraded my lpfp to stage 2 on my 335i n54 2009, FBO stage 2+MHD and all was good until yesterday when I speed up on a highway and after that I received on my Idrive a message about fuel pump and exclamation sign on my dash bord...after I let the gas pedal, the message disappeared in a few seconds and most of the times I get this message on Idrive when I floor it. I ' ve checked with MHD and I get only a shaddow code ; 2AAE DME:FUEL PUMP.The car runs very good, only get this annoying message. I replaced today my HPFP and have exactly the same errors with fuel pump on my idrive. I made some logs and I'll appreciate if someone could take a look, maybe is something wrong here. I read on other forums and most of the 2009 model have this problem after upgrading to stage 2 lpfp and most of the cases was a easy fix by updating EKP module.... Is it the same case here?* I made a log today and maybe someone is able to see what is the problem here, also my lpfp and hpfp are in parameters? https://datazap.me/u/cristy7610/mhd-...=3-11-14-19-20 |

Your rail pressure and lpfp pressures are good.
From Fuel-It's website: "Upgraded pumps pull more current, so if your EKP (LPFP control module) is weak, it may overheat causing it to shut down and need to be replaced. If this is a concern for you checkout our FI-650HP fuel pump upgrade kits that retain the stock LPFP and add a secondary pump." Decent thread with info from Fuel-It here; https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34215 Last edited by IllSic_Design; 10-10-2018 at 07:02 PM.. |

Thank you for your reply.
Your offer sound good, but I already upgraded to stage 2 and I read some similar cases where the culprit was EKP module, or have to modify some values to stop this warning message on I drive |

Yes, several threads around that the version 2 of the module can be associated with it. Its unclear what cars started getting version 3s. I have recently installed a S2 pump and the alert came up once. BUt I haven't done many highspeed run since.. The #3 modules generally run about 50$ on ebay and as I understand, dont require recoding after install.
If it happens to me I am gonna try replacing it bc those things drive me nuts.

Bumping this thread. Installed new bucketed fuel-it stage 2 LPFP in my late 2009 n54 and logs look perfect, but I'm getting fuel pump message on idrive and chime every time I turn the car off. Tuner says its related to voltage threshold in the EPKM and is mostly harmless but it's driving me nuts.
Is there a way to modify the voltage threshold for the EPKM via NCS, bimmergeeks pro tools or similar? Searched for days and read about similar issues, cant find a straight answer. Here's a link to similar problem/solution on n54tech if it helps at all: https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showt...t=42012&page=2 |

The proper solution is to get the torqbyte controller from EOS. Anything else you do is just a bandaid fix.
EKPM3 is in 09+, it's better but will still fail eventually.

Interesting. I was told the voltage threshold just needs to be adjusted in the existing EPKM via NCS expert or BG pro tools but I'm a technical moron. The EOS module also seems overkill for those of us sticking with basic aftermarket fueling setups (single lpfp). Have an appointment Saturday AM with a local advanced coding guy, will update the thread.

FWIW I pulled the side seat cover off and left the module exposed to keep it cool and I havent had a fuel pump code since. Someone needs to make a heat sink unit. I bet that would solve most issues. Last edited by cortez08; 05-01-2019 at 05:12 AM.. |

Stoked to report that, using the n54tech post as a guide, remote coding worked! No more error message on Idrive or chime. You do NOT need to purchase new EPKM modules or that Torqbyte unit. The steps outlined in NCS allow for voltage threshold adjustment.
Two monster thumbs up for Alex @ Alpine coding. He helped me install VMware on my old mac, and did the whole thing remotely via bimmergeeks cable in 15 mins. Even easier for Windows users. Alex@alpinemss.com |

Open this post again, due to the same problem...today I've contacted Alex, maybe he could help me.
Is it anyone here who could confirm if Protool could code this module to avoid that error in I-drive? |

Hey fellas,
I had same issues when I upgraded my LPFP to Walbro 450. Turns out my EKPM was probably overheating. I followed the procedure in this thread and haven't had any issues with codes since then. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1737938 |

I have a 2008 335i e92 fbo stage 2+ 135k miles. Just installed stage 2.5 lpfp (not E tune yet). I went to drive and as soon as I try to do a little pull I get 2aae code from mhd so I just clear and nothing really happens. Will putting those thermal heat sinks pads inside of the ekpm sensor help in this situation?
