I have searched back through the forum and cant find exact instructions of finding your current program version. I read through all my service invoices and nothing states upgrad/reprogram. I dont want to call the dealer unless I have to, they already labeled me a complainer since they wont retrofit my oilcooler.

Thanks in advance and good luck on this. At some point BMW will have to roll this back or be prepared for a messy onslaught. Those who notice initially might only be 1% of owners, but as word on 29.2 gets out, it will grow to 50%.... And, word WILL get out. |

I really don't know if the new iDrive has anything to do with the ECU or not, but I am almost sure that they upgraded it all at the same time. I'm taking mine in for them to look at next week. |

Thanks for the info -- I know doesn't have the features you mention. if you find out that idrive was updated separately, please let us know. It seemed linked to v81, based on posts here, but you never know.....
I assume a new navigation data disc changes the maps themselves, but not the user interface. |

Note: I did not ask them to change any of this stuff. They just did it as part of the 15k service. |

[QUOTE=ezatnova;2810499]No. Yet this thread gets diluted with things already clearly stated in 29.2 threads (i.e. when and why you get updated, how to tell, etc etc.)
well excuse me for asking, this is the first I ever hear about any software mumbo jumbo...

Does anyone have any updates or experience with the v30 program update? I'm hoping it fixed the 29.2 throttle lag and other issues. I also discovered today that random on ipod no longer works with 29.2.

I just dropped my car in to service to get something with comfort access fixed and I can confirm 29.2 is no more and 30 is the new software. My SA was aware of the lag issue and said he was not sure if this is addressed in the new software. He has not received any feedback yet.

My car will go into service on Wed morning for a remanufactured hpfp. Last thurs or fri, I had a good conversation with my SA and expressed dissatisfaction with 29.2. So, I'm 99% sure they will update me to 30 if it is available. With all my complaining about 29.2, I will say that I LOVE SOUND OF THE EXHAUST. I've noticed that it is definately better - deeper and a bit louder. |

just picked up my car from the dealer
had an issue with my adaptive headlight says they used version 30.1 to update the car. car now has noticible lag below 3k rpm its there. in a pretty big way. not sure if the car needs to adapt to my driving style, as they reset everything on the car. but i am not impressed at all so far |

Just instruct your SA not to update. 90% of the stuff you go in for does not require a software update. Mike |

only the dealer can tell you that, there is no menu option hidden or otherwise that will reveal the version stamp
