E90 330i Excessive Oil Consumption

Hi,

I have a 2005 E90 330i with just under 160,000km (99,500 miles) on the clock.
The car has no oil leaks and blows no smoke whatsoever. I've left it idling and then given it a rev and still no smoke. Despite this, it is consuming 1L of oil every ~2400km (1500 miles).

I know some people call this 'normal' consumption, however I also own an E90 320i which was very heavy on oil prior to having the valve stem seals replaced, now it uses almost nothing and doesn't require top ups between 10,000km service intervals.

Any ideas as to what might be causing such high consumption?
I suspected the PCV valve however I performed the 'oil cap suction test' and didn't notice excessive pressure holding the cap on.

Thanks in advance.

I think you have to disable the valvetronic if you are to test the PCV via the 'oil cap method'.

As you have checked for leaks and the valve seals look fine, the PCV system would be the prime suspect (the B30 does not have the worn oil scraper rings problems like the B25 version). Unless money is an issue, i would replace it and see if the oil consumption decreases before digging too deep.

Has to be a oil leak for that much oil
Loss.

I have been chasing oil leaks for a year and have finally fixed them all. (Oil pan, valve cover & oil filter housing)
