M57 330D blue smoke after long idle

Hi all, quick question,
I have an e91 330d w/ m57 on an 07 plate, completely stock, no remap, swirl flaps, egr, dpf still fitted.
After being sat idle for a while ie. on the drive for 20-30 minutes I get quite a lot of blue smoke out of the exhaust when pulling away until I give it some heavy acceleration through the gears and it clears up
No blue smoke any other time, only once its been idling for ages.
Is this normal behaviour? Someone said thats just what diesels do but im not so sure if it is..
I dont leave it idling very often, the car spends 2hrs a day on the motorway.

Cheers

Blue smoke is a sign of engine burning its own oil.

My best guest would be
- during idling time oil get pulled trough CCV
- after 20-30 minutes of idling some amount gets condensed in the intercooler due to low intake pressure
- when you later on accelerate oil gets pulled all at once through intake
- visual appearance: blue smoke

I would have it checked it out.
While engine oil is expected to burn, larger amounts could impact DPF life

Perhaps avoid idling for such a log tine.

Thanks, wasn't me who left it idling this time but an MOT tester, any specific ccv checks I can do?

eezeh - the CCV route is my wild guess.

The oil could be coming in from other sources, e.g. turbo gasket leak.

A reputable shop that specializes in diesel engines should be able to find a source of oil.
