Anyone used Angel Warranties?

Hi,

After weighing up the pros and cons of taking BMW Insured Warranty and third party, a friend sent me the following company:

https://www.angelwarranty.com/

They have offered me their "Ultimate" cover which covers all components of the car excluding airbags and a few other electrical items etc. The key thing here is that they use OEM parts (an option I have had to pay for but well worth it) and they cover all the component failure even if due to wear and tear up to 100,000 miles.

They also cover collateral damage as a result of a covered part (i.e. the water pump fails and the motor overheats and gets damaged).

The claim limit is £5000 per claim and the maximum yearly claim limit is capped at the value of the car but resets after 1 year.

Has anyone used them? I am skeptical because it seems too good to be true, and you know what they say about that!

I don't think anything can beat the BMW Mondial Warranty personally..

If it sounds too good to be true that's probably because it is! I've heard so many horror stories about warranty companies that I will only have a manufacturers approved policy.

The quote was £600 a year or £770 something for two years, I am paying monthly because I am still skeptical!

I went for £0 excess and manufacturer original parts only.

I will no doubt need to use it at some point so will feedback if I do and about the experience.

The problem is that you won't find out if your scepticism is well founded till it's too late, with BMW repair costs the way they are, it's a gamble I wouldn't be prepared to take.

Yeah I see your point.

I guess time will tell.

The thing that put me off BMW warranty is all the common issues I see on this forum, people have to fight and plead with BMW for them to repair them.

Things as simple as the HPFP. I see people having to go and have multiple diagnostics, constant limp mode issues, firmware updates etc etc. Then they get declined for things like wear and tear etc. With BMW offering then some good will off the part. Like they're doing you a favor!

Just seems such a headache. If this warranty is what its been sold as, hopefully it won't be such a headache.

Time will tell

Warranty providers are businesses like any other who rely on profits to keep them running, the way to sustain those profits is to pay out as little as possible in claims, which means making it as difficult as possible to make a claim. BMW may make you jump through hoops to make a claim, but budget providers have so many loopholes, claiming is all but impossible. Also, I paid £800 for a 2 yr warranty on aVx Vectra 10 years ago compared to Angels £770, "if it sounds too good to be true" etc etc

Yes I completely understand that BMW not only need to maintain profit but also negate any wrongful diagnostics and potentially fraudulent/untruthful claims.

I think buying approved used from a main dealer is your best bet for a truly warranted car!

Just had an £8.3k warranty claim from BMW, no hassle whatsoever with the dealership. Every other claim I've had over the years (inc Turbos last year) has been hassle free too.

Think you should try another dealer as I'm led to believe its in the dealers interest to carry out warranty claims because they get paid for it (albeit at a slightly lower hourly rate).

Nothing beats BMW warranty as far as I'm concerned, heard too many horror stories about other firms

5K claim limit is what concerns me. That means if the cost is £5100 - they can reject the claim. Even if they allow you to pay the difference (which i doubt) an engine rebuild will cost probably double that.

Hmm you guys are swaying me I must admit. I have another few days to cancel and get a full refund. Might do that it and just stick with BMW..

Is there anyway I can get them to confirm they will cover my car? I know they say you need to have stamps to show its been serviced at the correct intervals with the correct scope and by a VAT approved garage etc. But I would want them to confirm my SH meets their requirements?

Read ALL the small print, there will be loads of get out clauses, and the final arbiter for any disputes will doubtless be .... ANGEL WARRANTIES

I meant BMW lol.

I have read angel warranties Ts&Cs back to front and there isn't much wiggle room.

What concerns me is the lack of online presents (both good and bad). No one is ranting or raving about them.

Thanks, I guess I will just scan every page of my service book and ask if it qualifies for their warranty.

Cheers

I've hardly heard any stories of BMW Insured Warranty denying or even fighting claims- they've always done the work no questions asked for me, including both turbos being replaced on my 335i.

Wouldn't even contemplate anyone but BMW for my warranty, personally.

Ok I am in talks with a sales person for the warranty via email.

If she says my SH meets the standards etc I will take it out!

I just get the feeling they will put up a fight if I take my nearly 10 year old 135i to them with issues.

Like if the turbo wastegates go crazy and they just say oh its wear and tear get lost?

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that the Mondial warranty can only be taken as an extension of the OE warranty, so I doubt a 10 year old car without an existing Mondial warranty would qualify. I'm not even sure that they's cover cars at nearly 10 years old either?

I couldn't tell you to be honest, I will ask when I send my SH off.

As far as age, they are providing me the option and a price on the website to have comprehensive cover on my car (9 years 4 months old), so I imagine its not an issue?

Just to add to this, I bought my 335i about 4 months ago now, it has a full service history with about half at BMW and the rest at independents.

I took out the BMW warranty the day I bought it, 2 months later the DSC unit went which BMW sorted hassle free, I had to send them a photo of my service book as I forgot to leave it in the car, that was enough for them to get the OK from BMW for £2,500 worth of work, they didn't ask for receipts.
