It is common for people to even upgrade wheels and leave them with the shop. Time is a function of money, many people dont have the time to sell their products on forums or craigslist.
EG I bought a Suzuki motorcycle with 250 Miles on it from a Suzuki dealer for half price because the persons wife did not like the blue color and she wanted it out of the garage asap. found out the husband walked in and said give me 25% of the price I bought it for. EG I bought a Rotel FM Tuner because he didnt like the remote He wanted $100 when he spent $500 3 days before Bought a Myriad Pre Amp ( retail $1200) for $250 because the front didnt exactly match his stereo setup. AND THEN THE dumb ones my neighbor bought a Ford Taurus ( not a SHO) for $58,000 because she wanted all the options undercoating, leather sealant, etc |

Lots of people live in tall buildings and park their cars in parking garages. It's not uncommon at all for someone to have wheels or an exhaust swapped on a car like this and not want to transport/store the parts.
At least they are not going in the trash like some shops do. A body shop I know of here in Michigan once trashed tons of OEM BMW E30 M3 body panels and other older car panels because they didn't need them and didn't want their employees to take them. What a shame. |
