Shipping companies

Aloha E92'ers,

I'm moving to Oahu in a couple of weeks from DFW. So I'm shipping my Bimmer, any of you guys(gals) ship your cars over? What company did you use? Comments, complaints? Advice?

Thanks Much Appreciate it in advance.

Shipped the wife's 2014 Forester XT, it was a frustrating ordeal. It was trucked from New Jersey (where I dropped it off) to the Port of LA. From there it was shipped out here. I got it covered in bugs with rust spots coming through and scratches all over the place. Mind you, this vehicle had under 1,000 miles at the time of shipping. It is, mostly, all fixed now thanks to a damage claim through the shipper. Advice? As much clear 3m vinyl as possible. Protect your paint!!!!

Find a third party shipping company that uses containers vice sitting in the open. Most likely will end up being with Matson. But it will be trucked to San Diego or Seattle, sit up to 10 days, then 5 more days to Trans the Pacific. Also, don't shampoo interior prior to drop off at port. Use touch up paint to cover all rock chips (if feasible) and take that paint with you to the inspection to fix some that you may have missed. Take plenty of photos and a video at drop off as part of the proof of condition.

Matson shipped my car. They use containers on the ocean, but open on the mainland. Also, they do not give a damn what happens to your car in transit.

Thanks all.. I went with https://www.pashahawaii.com. They're pretty close to where I live.. car goes out on the truck from Dallas to San Diego... and then out to sea inside the ship. cost was nearly $1800. A lot of military use this company, so I was told. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm military and that's what we use. As long as you and the company did a thorough inspection, they will cover any damage when it gets here.
