Battery got replaced for another. All problems solved. Car is running silky smooth again. No DME issues emerged. Brought her home happy. Now it's time for a detail. I'd like to thank Active Motorwerke, all of you here that gave me quick responses and Vtl for the kind support and putting up with my OCD's lol

Yeh it's an AGM type battery, most expensive type you can buy from BMW. The original lasted me 8 years as I previously mentioned and apparently that was a shortfall as they are supposed to last from 10-12 years! Which is why it is so expensive in the first place to replace. I could've got a cheaper battery from BMW but car had to be re-coded for a lower spec battery and I didn't want to complicate things so I stuck with the original. Thanks, I am also glad that she's back on the road again. Indeed very lucky to not have a dead DME. Time to invest in a trickle charger now.

I've never heard of an AGM battery lasting 10-12 years?

My oem BMW battery lasted 6 years (previous owner never drove it much) and my oem AGM VW Varta battery lasted 5 years... (and it gets driven a lot!)

I have seen an e36 with a 10 year old battery and have seen a battery last 12 years on an e46. Depends on usage and how often you drive per day if it's a daily.. if my alternator was not an issue, I bet my battery wouldve lasted even longer..

Yeah my old E39 battery was 10yrs old when it finally died, and I think it died because I didn't drive it everyday like the previous owner, I only drove it twice a week

The car needs to be towed in and get the alternator replaced before it can be driven. I could've blown 2k on mods and detailing and it goes to repairs. Fekk!
I had the same christmas tree warning lights on my dash and then car died. Mine's pushing 18v as well, indy is looking for one. What's the best option price vs value new/remanufactured/used?

Hey, I found my battery issues were caused by my JB4, once I got rid of it my factory battery was fine, i sold the S5 to another member.
