The thread that you attached Shane talks about blue marks on the flange and requiring washers on the bolts.

Mine had a blue mark on it as well, in my case I needed a washer on that bolt. I lost the washer and never fitted it and have no balance problems. The washer cost 18$ so I didn't feel like buying another one after it was all working correctly.

Washer vs special counter balance bolts depends on your build date. It's all outlined in ista.

$18 for a washer. Such BMW tax.

This afternoon, I took the car out for its maiden run with the M3 driveline. Initially, I only started backing it out of the garage and I could hear a click, click ,click sound. I guessed what it was straight away. The head of the bolts on the rear CV of the driveshaft clipping the exhaust heat shield. The CV is a bit larger than the 335 joiner. So back into the garage, lift up the rear of the car, a bit of a pull down with a small crow bar and all was good. I took it for a short run at 80kph. There were no vibrations at that speed but there were a couple of strange sounds at various speeds and loads which I didn't have before and need to sought out.

Just had the car up on a hoist and found that the noise in the rear end was coming from the brake disc on the passengers side rubbing against the backing plate. With that solved, the car is ready for the strip when the temperatures drop down a bit more.

This is a lot more common than people realise

Yes, I must have bent it in a little while changing the axles if I had a guess.

Update on the noise that I was getting after installing the M3 diff and half shafts. I took it to 3 workshops and none could really pin point where the noise was coming from but they thought it was the pinion end of the diff. Mike from Diff Lab who rebuilt the diff got me to take it to one of the workshops twice but still couldn't pin point the cause. I decided to have a closer look myself so while I had it up on stands to remove the transmission, I started it up and let it idle in drive. The noise certainly sounded like it was coming from the pinion area of the diff or CV joint. I removed the rear heat shield between the exhaust and tailshaft and found that the noise was louder towards the centre bearing on the tailshaft. On removing the tailshaft, I spun the centre bearing and it was a bit rough so I got it replaced and the noise has gone thankfully.

I would imagine, there would be far more propshafts available in the UK and Europe than over here in Australia. I fully recommend the swap.

You would think so but I’m really struggling live only seen two ones at £333 it’s damaged Or I pay £760 from what I’m seeing I would be over spending but I can’t see any other
I 100% intend to do it I just need this final part
