Boot not opening
Ok so in my quest to stop my car smoking I finally think I've got there. However my mate came over with his laptop (ista) and a plug in module for coding (I forget which one possibly Carly) and all of a sudden my boot won't open. It could be linked or could be just that my car doesn't want to be completely right haha. Does anyone know if coding a few bits in can affect the boot opening like that (doors are completely fine) or if it's just bad timing and the mechanism has gone wrong. Thanks ppl

If it's an E90 there is a key hole near the top of the license plate to open your trunk manually. When you find it, insert your key in and twist.

I've read a few threads on here about a valet boot lock switch in the glove box, maybe worth switching it from unlock to lock & back again.
Have attached a link to one of the threads below, hope that it's a simple fix. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...D9tJtnO3H5Eis8

Yes, coding can indeed mess up the boot locking/opening. I had issues with mine never locking after coding with protool. I fixed it by updating software and default coding using winkfp and ncsexpert.
Worth noting that the boot on these has no mechanical connection between handle/button and latch; it's entirely electrical. So the difference between unlocked (opens when button pressed) and locked (no response to button) is entirely defined by the programming/coding state of the jbbf module, and the electrical connections between the relevant components. |

I had an software update via a bmw specialist, it failed and bricked the FRM Module (the one under the glovebox), my tailgate failed to operate.
I seem to recall it was a few hundred quid to fix with a new FRM module. Last edited by Bmw330; 09-15-2020 at 09:46 AM.. |
