I think K&N has generally good build quaility, but for me it's an oil issue.

With the K&N I always seem to end up over-oiling them when I clean them. I do run k&N drop-ins on the my work vehicles, but w/the BMW I'm worried about the oil and the mass airflow sensor...old rumors from the MB forum when I had my CL.

Anyone know of any MAF sensor issues w/ after-market filter oils ?

P.S. Jonmartin: I'm likin' the updated signature...nice, man.

Awesome job. Im just confused on a couple accounts; first, which filter is which? Second, what exactly is an "ARM" and how do you purchase it seperately?

can you please measure the thickness of this filter vs stock and also take some side shots of each next to each other? I am looking for a filter that is thinner than stock and doesnt go as deep into the box.

Being that I don't have the car yet, you might want to have someone who already has their car do it for you.

BMC filter is about 1/2 the thickness of an OEM one.

Here is BMC on the right and the "leading" competitor on the left.

Contact SP engineering for a BMC filter, thats where I ordered mine, give them a call... they don't have it listed online.

Please PM me if you are interested in starting a GB for these filters or would just like to purchase one individually. I will have over 10 pieces coming into the shop hopefully sometime next week. Thanks.

Are you trying to say thinner is better?

I always thought thicker was better, which allows for longer folds and more filter surface area, which would allow the filter setup to be less restrictive...?

I don't have my car yet so no OEM filter for side by side. Tonester has you covered though.

Latest upgrade for the V10 M5 / M6 is ramair scoops with the BMC filters.... good for 17-22 whp....

These filters absolutely rock. I also had the BMC filter installed in my 335xi from day 1.
