Hi All,


Just want to find out if anybody had similar experience.

My car e92 330d 2010 (remapped to ~300Bhp)


I bought new EBC Ultimax Slot discs and RED Pads set for the front about 15k miles ago. http://static.europerformance.co.uk/...timaxdiscs.jpg

I bedded the brakes as normal. The car stops great no noise. Completely different from OEM or mintax which was on previously.
All is great with the exception I am seeing a lot of brake disk eaten and pads with little wear . First time on EBC disk's hence I am not sure if its normal :. Am I expecting pads to last longer than the disk?

Think the reds are more geared towards hardcore racing. Yellows would be better for daily driving. I'm actually surprised you can stop. My brother had reds on his civic and they had to be hot to bite. Could lead to a poor ability to stop when cold.

So yeah the reds are very abrasive.

Lol. The car stops as if its on steroids. Even from cold its great. Thanks for the reply.

I've had red stuff pads for over 20000 miles now & think they are excellent even from cold.
Have just bought a new set of red rear pads as they're going to need changing soon, fronts are still good though.
Apparently yellow stuff are more track oriented. Red stuff are Ceramic
I haven't had any undue disc wear, but then I'm not running slotted discs

Thanks for the info mate. I am considering putting yellows in the rear on solid disks

Red are more for street use and yellows for track.

I run yellows front and back and find them very good. zero issues so far.

Well now I'm really confused. My brother definitely had red ceramics that had to be warm to work.

Never had any issues from cold Jack, but the by the time I've driven a couple of miles they'd be some heat in them. I haven't tried stopping from a 100mph or so having just taken the car out from cold though

EBC market them as a fast road ceramic pad for occasional track use.
I suspect my rears have worn prematurely due to my trips to Santa pod

I bet they have. I like to brake gradually all the way to the end of the track. No point slamming them on to make that first turn.

The rear wear sensor on mine was reset by a muppet mechanic meaning it no longer functioned and I wore them down way past minimum. Cooked one caliper to death so that I had to replace it. Worth keeping an eye on them. Cheaper to replace just the pads

I've found the yellow stuff pads with the drilled and slotted rotars to be great.

Could only see an improvement being an expensive after market big brake kit.

Same as, it's the tyre warming before you stage that eats the rears up
I suspect I'll do the rears one day over coming bank holiday.

Does drilled/slotted feel any different than solid/slotted?
In my experience neither grooved or drilled are of any benefit unless you are racing where temperature reaches high enough. then again I only had e46 m3 for a bit.

I had drilled on my e36 328i they looked good & stopped well but I had to regularly unblock the holes as they often filled up with crud
