Buying a 2007 328xi wagon!
Howdy. I'm a 12-year Subaru veteran, about to sell my 2005 Legacy GT Limited. I love this car, but stumbled upon a very nice '07 328xi wagon on Craigslist, a couple of weeks ago. Stats from the ad: Quote:
The owners had the car regularly serviced at an excellent local BMW/Audi/Porsche/Mercedes-Benz dealership (www.sunmotorcars.com), and the car comes with a warranty through 2013. I checked the Bavarian Auto maintenance schedule, and it looks like transmission/transfer case/differential fluids are due at 50K, as well as a coolant flush. Simple enough! To the pics: Side profile is my favorite, on this car... I'm nervous about this, but excited as well. First post on this forum. I had a membership on the *old* Roadfly.org back in the '90s, and a current one on the new site, but had never posted here. Here's hoping I'm here a lot, but for good reasons! =S2= p.s. If anyone wants to see what I'm selling, here it is (130K, 5MT): |

I'm already eying Sport steering wheels. Definitely want one of those.
And I found the Turner Motorsport suspension combo with Bilstein and H&R Sport springs, however don't see a wagon fitment. So maybe there isn't one. Emailed them to find out. But I really like those steering wheels... think that'll come first. |

Roof rack may happen, but at least I've got the rails. My wife has a 2001 Outback with rails but no crossbars, we've never needed them. Yet. But two wagons are better than one. And she's probably upgrading to a 2013 Outback, soon too.
18"s I'm going to pass on, I like the 17"s on there. I'll stick with those. First thing I want is a Sport or M Sport steering wheel, but the choices seem daunting. I want thumb grips and perforated leather, the rest is negotiable. Tint is very likely. Restriction may not allow for 35% here in PA, but we'll see. |

I actually found Jakkel's car in the E91 picture thread, and it's quite nice indeed: But... still going to wait a bit. I like to get used to a car as-is first, before I get to tinkering with modifications. This is also going to be a daily driver, with a lot of potholed roads, so 18"s could be asking for trouble, with the sidewall height. Tint, yes I'll be doing that. And the steering wheel, once I sort through info online, about that. But first and foremost will be all the required fluid flushes. |

Nice! I tried to find an LGT wagon when I was shopping for one... only one I found, I drove but it was in terrible cosmetic condition. Not well cared for.
So you don't miss the Legacy at all? This your first BMW? I'm looking forward to a different venture. I just really wish the 328xi had the Sport package, but oh well. I already emailed TurnerMotorsport about a wagon strut/spring package, they can put one together when I'm ready (Bilstein/H&R). Might transplant seats eventually, if I can find grey leather ones. Sport or ///M, we'll see. Steering wheel, definitely. And tint. Blacklines look nice, but can wait. |

Haven't bought it just yet. Owner's out of town until Friday, so I need to finalize a price, and figure out when the buyer on the LGT is meeting up with me. Mine's Satin White with a 5MT and black leather, pretty rare combo. Not sure if that truly helps to sell, but.... made me feel good about myself I guess.
I was disappointed when the Legacy wagon got axed. I'm glad that BMW is continuing the 3 wagon with the F30, or supposedly anyway. Now that Americans are downsizing their cars somewhat, perhaps the sportwagon will make a resurgence. I'd like to at least see Subaru, Audi and Volvo get back in the game. Especially when oddballs like Acura (TSX) and Cadillac (CTS/-V) have *introduced* wagons, in a market where everyone else ditched them. A guy can hope. A Legacy twin-turbo H-6 STi wagon, with Brembos and a 6MT? Mmm, that'd be nice. |
