**UPDATE RACECAR FOUND!!** TURB0MIK3’s 335i Racecar/Trailer/Truck - SoCal
UPDATE!! The trailer, racecar and truck were found! The truck was found at a storage locker 10 miles north in Oceanside. And then a random enthusiast on IG heard the story and came across the trailer with the untouched racecar inside 10 miles east of there in San Marcos. They may have made off with some small stuff but chalk that up to the cost of cheap tuition from a learning experience like this. ALWAYS have a GPS tracker and off-track insurance on a dedicated race car like this. Huge thanks to everyone who helped our fellow brother turb0mik3
—————————————————- —————————————————- We need to help a fellow member who has been a fixture in this community turb0mik3 . His EXTREMELY well known 2010 E90 335i Racecar, 26’ enclosed trailer and Ford F-250 tow vehicle were just stolen. The car is a fully build race car, roll cage, BBS wheels, Sparta BBK, etc and is wrapped in the below livery. The car is originally LeMans Blue (dark blue). Mike has had this car since new and has single handedly helped use his own car and resources to be a test bed for this platform in a roadcourse/Motorsports environment. He and his car are the reason I am building my own 335 race car today. Not to mention he is one incredibly kind dude. The car was stolen sometime in the past 24 hours in the San Diego/Del Mar area. ANY info please pass it along to Mike at 858-242-2854. Last edited by sirdaft1; 09-09-2018 at 05:19 PM.. |

This makes my stomach turn...I can't imagine what he is feeling.
I hope it's recovered soon and all in one piece/unblemished.

So what’s the story? How did said enthusiast find it? Did they ever find the thieves? How did they manage to steal it in the first place?
Glad the car was recovered however; stroke of incredible luck

Mike didn’t find out until almost a day later (no GPS tracker at the time). Word spread like wildfire everywhere on social media and random enthusiasts were literally driving all around SoCal to find it. I reached out to Matt Farah (The Smoking Tire) with the story and he posted it to his IG, and a random enthusiast in San Marcos heard about it and recognized a suspiciously similar trailer parked nearby with different plates. The thieves wound up swapping plates, but it was his trailer due to a bunch of other unique markings. Once they opened it up, viola, racecar. Now that Mike has it back, it looks like the thieves stole $5-6k worth of tools, communication equipment, etc. but it was still a FAR better outcome than it could have been. No word yet on who the thieves are. They do have finger prints. I’d imagine it’s just a matter of time until they find the scumbags if they have the fingerprints on record. |

Not very smart of them at all But then again; if they were any smart, they wouldn’t be petty thieves in the first place
