Take one to a good parts store like NAPA or Carquest those twist in sockets look very similar to ones that have been used since the beginning of time for 194s (my dad's '73 Chevy pickup uses very similar sockets for the dash lighting) hopefully something they have in stock will work.

Go to ECS Tuning(ES# 175023) or the dealer and buy part#- BMW# 63258389736). They cost about $2.00 each- I have replaced mine with no problems. GL

Just curious, where did you find that? I figured on looking it up on realoem for the OP and apparently ran into the same clue wall that his dealer parts guy did - it's not where I'd expect it to be. (not that that's unusual, I've had that happen to me at least twice before, on TPMS valve stems and also E46 jacking points)

I just did a part no. lookup and that p/n is not listed at all for E9x... damn you BMW
seriously, that's great info. I am going to have to update my bulb part number spreadsheet and add that socket p/n. I posted the last version in the "E92 bulb chart" thread. One of these days I'm going to have to start pulling interior bulbs so I can x-ref BMW part numbers to trade part numbers - so far I've only done the exterior ones. |

I'm not busting on you at all... I'm just saying that if you were a dealer parts guy and were searching for a bulb socket for the map light in an E9x that it isn't ever going to come up in the parts catalog. (I plugged that number into realoem.com's part number usage lookup) It *is* listed for a mess of other BMW cars, both older and newer, as a "bulb socket" for "overhead interior light." So whoever was responsible for making the catalog for E9x just neglected to list that part separately, and this nugget of information is great stuff, thank you!
