E91 335i LCI Production Numbers or LCI conversion

Hi

Does anyone know, or know where I can find, production numbers for the 335i Touring. Also, is there anyway of knowing how many of a given spec have been produced?

Reason for asking is that I currently own a 2006 335i Auto Touring with some nice options and having tried the FXX 3 and 5 Series models would rather stick with an E91.

While my currently car is very good mechanically it could do with a bumper respray and a couple of small smart repairs. This got me considering how much longer I'd keep it and if so, what enhancements/mods I'd like to do. This would likely include Walnut Blast, Birds Suspension (it already has a Quaife Diff), Gearbox Service etc

Now I'm wondering if I'm going to spend all that cash whether it would be better to do it to a late LCI model? Or would I be better off sourcing the bits to do an LCI conversion - only issue is this may get even more costly.

I've not seen many for sale in the 3 years I've had mine.

There's numbers floating around of only 50 335i LCI tourings being made, whether it is true or not I don't know. Howmanyleft.com suggests this is about right.

You could contact BMW as I've heard of people doing this. Someone got hold of the sales numbers for the E36s sold in each colour.

As for what to do. LCI conversion will make it look newer but LCi includes more than just visual changes. Chances are you'll be able to get parts from a crashed car in the correct colour, unless yours is something special.

There was a 335i Touring with a manual box a while ago on Pistonheads. I was so tempted but it'd done 120k.

I'd just do an LCI conversion, just take pictures before/after to show it wasnt crashed, which is my usual assumption when i see an LCI conversion lol.

Is an E91 335i MT really that rare? and would LCI be rarer still then?

When I had my LCI E91 manual, I did some research and there were 19 sold in the UK between March 2009 and late 2011. That's it. So, yes, they're quite rare.

So my 2009 with a Birds setup inc diff is really quite worth having then!! Who knew....

When I bought it I knew it was something good, but not quite how good then.

Yup, it's a nice thing to own. I have a friend who's offered me his, and I'm currently weighing up whether to sell my LCI E90 335i manual for it. Not in any rush, but it would be nice to get another. My old E91 sold again recently and it's been 'cheap' motoring from a depreciation perspective for the last owner.

Cheap is relative!

When I had mine walnut blasted it made a noticeable difference. Hope yours feels the same afterwards.

yeah, the idle is just a tiny fraction 'bubbly' and I'm hoping that'll clear it, its done 100K so well over the recommended period really so hopefully it will do the trick.

thanks for your feedback though, looking forward to it now

If anyone is genuinely looking for an LCI E91 335i manual, there will be one coming up for sale soon. It's a known forum car and has about 64k miles on it from memory. It's an N54 with the BMW Performance exhaust and 19" 313M's. You'll find it if you search on here hard enough.
