E9x 335i track wheels 18"
Hey guys what wheels setup would you suggest for E92 335i for time attack wheels? I think 18 would be the best since there is biggest choice of tires. Also what width? 8.5J front & 9.5J rear? Or some square setup? What about the tires? For 19" I think the max is 235/35/19 front & 265/30/19 rear. What will be good for 18" setup?
I know Apex and Advan RS are good if not the best options but they are kind a pricey also hard to find in Europe. So maybe some OEM ones? Would love if possible to have the lightest and strongest ones for reasonable budget (as much as possible consider lightest since I know without spending big you will never get the best ). At the moment I ride 19" OEM 313 Performance wheels which I really like but its pain and fortune to find semi-slicks / slicks for those wheels...

For track use definitely go square. I'd recommend 18x9 with 255/35/18 all the way around. Offsets can vary based on what year or body style, but ET30 should get you in the ballpark.
As for light, strong, and reasonable price I think Apex race parts offers a great balance.

2006 E92 335i is the year & style
Yeah agree Apex is nice, any other option (they are kind a limited to be found in Europe/UK and importing them would be for some insane amount of money - taxes + shipping...)? P.S.: The one place I found them in stock (via Google) is Holland, and the price is not that great ~2000 euro for set of 4 18" 9J 32ET. Would definitely not want to spent that kind of money or would like to get used ones in such case

You should be able to get most big brands easily. Apex is a small company so not surprising your supply is limited over there.
Still OZ, Sparco, Motegi, Enkei, etc offer reasonably priced wheels that are light and strong. You should have them readily available there.

I see. Thanks guys. As for the tires 255/35/18 and 9J front will not rub?
Stock 19" with 8.5J front I think the max is 245 is too much what to say about 255 What do you think about those: Team dynamics pro race 1.2 - 9.7kg ATM on ebay.co.uk there is a offer for set of them 18X9 5X120 FITMENT ET 35 for 625 pounds which is not that bad compared to close to 2000 for Apex Arc 8

Check the offset with the offset calculator, not sure if 18j9 ET35 is a direct bolt on, might need a small spacer up front. Measure your current clearance to be sure.

i run 18x9.5 +35 square 255/35ZR18 on Ohlins R&T
added a 3mm spacer to clear my front coilover perch which was slightly rubbing so i ordered some TE37's in 18x9.5 +28 which will be the perfect ideal setup without using spacers. Titan7 Forged TS5 - great lightweight wheel and best bang for the buck. |

Now I have one more question -> 250/640-18" or 250/660-18" slicks for those wheels? Can I fit them both? 640 should be easier but 660 can be found way more easier and are way more cheaper when get slightly used ones from motorsport teams :/ This is once again for the E92 335i

18" Square: F&R: 18x9" ET30 - 255/35-18 18" Staggered: F: 18x9" ET30 - 235/40-18 or 255/35-18 R: 18x9.5" ET35 - 265/35-18 or 275/35-18 (275 may require a fender roll) To be more specific to your question, I would recommend the 18x9" ET30 fitment all around. Going with the 250/640-18" would be our recommended way to go. The 250/660-18" is a bit too tall, and would likely result in scrubbing under compression. Our 18x9" ET30 wheels do have great inner clearance, and typically do not require a spacer, even with certain suspensions. However, slicks do run quite wide, and may come very close to the suspension, thereby requiring a small spacer. We always recommend checking inner clearance before driving If you'd like to dive into more detail about the best fitment for you, we are always available via PM or on the phone. |

Definitely the best guide out there
Quick link to it BTW just for info - I'm with ST XTA suspension (KW V2) and just tried a slick mounted on friend wheel (ET29, 8.5J, 18" with 245/650/R18) and it rub. So 660 will be absolutely no-no. After that I'm also slightly worried about 250/640 or should I go with not that wide tires and go for something like 240 or 245 on 640. Of course all those issues are regarding the front (the suspension strut is really close and the front right wheel rub against the oil cooler lid). Few pics of the above setup (the rubbing one). You can see the space from the suspension strut (also made me wonder about the case where the car is under heavy load cornering on the track ):

I'm gonna latch onto this one. I've been looking at 18" wheels for my 335xi E92 and I had a vendor tell me that I should go 19" because there are issues with brake clearance on some of these cars. He didn't specifically say on a 335 but it got me concerned. Don't want to pull the trigger on something and find out it hits the caliper.
Anyone have any experience they can share? |

I would go with 18x9 ET 30 Apex Arc-8 square setup with 255-35-18. As far as I know, these are the lightest wheels you can get for the money. They look great too.
