Do you know which type of Llumar tint you got? I haven't tinted my cars before and was trying to find it on the website: http://www.llumar.com/en/Automotive.aspx was probably looking to get 35%... Need a comfort access safe one Thanks! |

I wasnt really aware there were different llumar types and Im not sure that Thornhill carries all the varieties of llumar. I basically asked for llumar 20% after seeing a fellow forum member with the same tint!

They do offer 35% as well. I thought 35 looked a little too light for my taste and 20 was a little to dark so I kinda had to compromise and go darker rather than lighter. Please post pics after your install. Im goin with 2 other guys in 2 weeks when I get back from Vegas. Both are getting 20% on silver and on grey so Ill post pics after install as well.

Called Richard today to go in on Thursday....he mentioned Sungard Shadow series tint, not Llumar when I asked him though...
Does this really matter? Are they essentially the same or should I ask for Llumar? |

I got my tints done at Thornhill tints and can tell you that there isn't any 35% llumar-atx tint. At the time, all he had was 20%, 30% and 38% tint. I went with 30% and am happy with it.
There shadow line as more variety in terms of tint darkness. I think Richard likes to promote shadow because it is a bit easier to install in the car and is more flexible. When I did the group buy a couple months back, all the members went with the Llumar-Atx. |

Sure,
I can direct you to the Group Buy I did. Tints A couple members also posted some of there pictures as well. I too was a little concerned going to 30% tint all around. However it was either 30% or 38% and I didn't want to get tint that was too light. I think i made a great choice and am very happy with the tint percent. I do not have any troubles driving at night and am able to see clearly through the windows as well as the mirrors when the auto dim feature is on. It is actually not bad at all. If you have a light interior (i have gray) the tint will look lighter compared to someone that has a darker interior. I would go with 30% llumar-atx. |

Thanks Desi for correcting my mistake in stating there was a 35% tint option. Your info is much appreciated.

The tints are looking great except for the dot matrix. Im planning on going in a couple of weeks to smooth it out.

What level of tint is going to be problem-free cop-wise in Ontario? I am looking to get something in 35-30 range done in the next two weeks. Also which film is better - it is not clear from the previous posts (I figured both types should work with comfort access, right?).

Anything darker than 30% and you'll get hassled from time to time. As far as what works woth comfort access, llumar is fine. You may want to call and ask Richard what other tint he has that won't interfere with CA.

Llumar has been around for a long time which is why member opt more for that brand over sungaurd, which has only been in business for 6-7 years. Both films have a lifetime warranty and even covers fading, bubbles. In terms of actual material, the llumar-atx has more of a charcoal color where as the Shadow has more of a greenish tint (looking very closely). From far, they all look black. Llumar-Atx is a mixture of cermite (ceramic and dye material) where Shadow is a dye based film. It is a matter of preference, but llumar's name has been around for a while which is why members trust them. The only downfall is that llumar-atx film has a very limited selection of tint % (20%,30%,38%) |
