Wonder how much a Burke (F100) would cost instead?

Dave, do you mean an Arleigh Burke US Destroyer??? If you do, I think they would have come in a lot cheaper, even built under licence in the UK. However defence spending is not logical, there is a grand strategic plan called the Defence Industrial Strategy, endorsed MoD policy, which ultimately means that UK companies get the R&D, and build contracts - did I say companies? I meant company of course, BAe Systems. It is grossly inefficient but is seen to 'protect' UK jobs and the industrial base. It is more important to having 10,000 people employed than to get good value military equipment. Not sure if that is right.

There is also the difficulty of buying 'off the shelf' US equipment in that we do not necessarily get all the requisite computer codes etc, and 'we' would feel politically beholden to our US colonial cousins if we used all their equipment. Just look at the debacle over the JSF F-35 project. I could go on but I would bore you all to death!!

Thirteen's not bad squeezebm considering you don't have that much time to play. Have you considered titlist pro-v 1's, apparently a very forgiving ball. Supposed to give yardage & accuracy according to a bloke I know who has played off as high as +4.

Do you really think it would help Squeeze if he changed his balls?
Would a new set of clubs not be better?

Yes it would - but he's not to lick them, they provide ball washers for that but can be difficlut to reach if you're short

I have it on good authority that a bad workman blames his tools (no offence squeezebm).

Could get him a good deal on a new set of clubs though

Sounds like Squeeze needs to get it together with Helen, all this talk about forgiving balls and extra yardage coupled with better accuracy, makes for a heady mix.
Helen perhaps you could Squeeze his balls!

I was only talking about golf Hotcoupe, never find me putting any kind of innuendo in my posts unlike some I could mentionHaving said that, may help him get a hole in one

Besides I wouldn't want to squeeze his balls - they'll be rock hard

No - doesn't interest me at all actually. My Dad was a very keen golfer & the other half works on a golf course.

Yes, likewise. My dad still enjoys playing a round, though not so much during the winter months. Never interested me either.

Back to the original thread.

The price of diesel and petrol is a joke at the minute, can not believe this. Also knowing that petrol company are just making lots more profit out of this.

Some of you might have heard that in France the social climate is not very up to scratch to say the less because of oil price increase and others factors...

An idea, people circulate an email to complaint about the increase in petrol / diesel prices.
What they advocate is to boycott the 2 major oil company TOTAL and SHELL in France and not to buy from them any longer..... They think that they can get oil company into a price war.

Really do not know if this is going to work, but it seems a easy enough idea though.

Will follow that up and post on the forum.

Let me know what you think

Steph

I think we have all gone a bit soft in the UK today. We just think we can't do anything about it - so what, someone else's problem - sad really. Plus all the fuel companies fix the price between them and the Government milks it on top.

It's just pathetic and a really easy target as people will need fuel so they can charge what they want. We will hear on the news Shell, BP have made mega ££££ this yr. Makes yer

steph, think you have a good idea in principal, but Gibbo is right in as far as fuel companies price fixing & the govt. tax on top. Why else do you often get two petrol stations, different companies, one on one side of the road and the other on the opposite side. Good way of price fixing? The French seem to have a flair for getting their point across, something we could learn from instead of being too polite ALL the time & apathetic.

I'd certainly give it a go - n'owt to loose.
