Sorry guys, we just got back from being at SEMA for 12 days. What a long trip. While we were gone we had parts ordered to build a couple of prototype systems for testing. What we plan on doing is building a Dual 2.5 inch system and a single 3" system to test back to back and see if any power is lost or gained between them. From there we will decide what route to go.
Again sorry about the delay but we are on top of things! Eric |

Well Justin has a good portion of the downpipes mocked up and even the first part of the catback. IT looks SICK! I will post pictures in a few minutes. its starting to look like an AMS part though

Here are some rough prototype pics we have. Keep in mind this might not represent the actual system we make. This is more of a one off piece so we can test the power difference (if any) between a single 3" system that split off into two tips or a true dual 2.5" system.
We should have a completed test system before the end of the week. In any event you can see the gears turning Eric |

Looks great guys! I love the research going into this, there is no proof like back to back dyno runs! Any ideas after taking a longer look at the project of what kind of price we will be looking at? Maybe a decent exhaust for under a G (finally)?

According to another post in this thread, it could come in at significantly less than $1k. Fingers crossed.

We will release whatever version that makes the most power, fits the best and is the most cost effective to the customer.
I personally think the single 3" that splits out to two tips in the back like the stock tips are set up is not only going to sound the best but produce just as much power as the true dual 2.5" Eric |

Curious to see the dynos.
Are you doing the same for 135i? Exhaust is much more of a restriction on our car.

Quads are ok and all, but I can't help but feel as though it goes against the spirit of the exhaust. That being a lighter, less expensive, equally as powerful option compared to what's currently available.
Quad tips mean a higher price (than dual), slightly heavier (than dual), and then you'll likely end up having to buy a diffuser to clean up the rear bumper (if the bumper is OE). |

If two turbos, do split
If one, do a single. If you do 2 pipes into 1 (via Y joint), make sure the sum cross section area of the two down pipes is smaller than the cross section area of the 3" pipe. (Keeps back pressure under control). Also, a single 3" pipe can be deeper sounding than twin 2.5" pipes. Larger diameter piping will resonate lower frequencies better. -scheherazade |

my exhaust on my old car was UR down pipes into 3" piping into a collector into 3" single pipe into a muffler then it went to a "y" into dual tips. It sounded amazing unfortunatlry the people who built my exhaust went out of business. If you guys build an exhaust like this. I'm 1st on your list. Just make a quad option. There was no drone with this setup
