FMIC IAT Log Compilation

I think its time to have a FMIC performance comparison. This will give good insight of how various FMIC are performing in comparison with each other in regards to boost, speed, fuel type, and ambient temps, ignition timing and "engine" mods "during WOT"

This is only for those with upgraded FMIC, not stock FMIC. NO METH
  • Logging Parameters

Boost
Timing
IAT
Speed
Ambient Temps
  • Mod List Format

1) FMIC
2) DCI or CAI type, model
3) Stock inlets or upgraded inlets (1.75" or 2.0")
4) Outlets
5) Fuel type

So here is mine to start with, ambient temps were 79°f forgot to log it a few days ago when I was doing 100-200 kph comparison with other groups

http://datazap.me/u/buraq/e89-z4-35i...26&zoom=27-164

Engine Mod List

1) ER Competition FMIC
2) CAI, ECS Tuning Carbon Fiber Kohlefaser Luft-Technik Induction System
3) VTT 2.0" inlets
4) Stock Outlet
5) E60

This is pre inlets/outlets, which I have on now.

1) VRSF 7"
2) Afe Stage 2 Si unsealed
3) stock inlets
4) stock outlets
5) E60

80*F

http://www.datazap.me/u/veloman62/bq...2&data=4-17-24

I don't log speed but it was the third of three 3rd-5th gear WOT pulls. Approx 30-130 mph.

Next log is with RB inlets and VTT outlets and about 89*F. Exact same circumstances, third of three 3rd-5th gear WOT pulls. Timing gets pulled as IAT climb to, and past 140*F.

LOL ! No not you specifically. You reminded me to get something done that I never had the chance to do. This was drastically needed so people can see various N54 performances in different conditions and power levels to be able to determine what is a "normal" for rise in IAT depending on ambient temps, boost, timing, and fuel on an upgraded FMIC

It serves as an archive database thread for people to compare to know what FMIC to go with for the power goals they are looking for.

When a particular FMIC becomes a "trend" to purchase, and anything is better than stock FMIC of course, its performance can easily be accepted as "normal" because the majority is using the same FMIC while not knowing what a really good performing FMIC is suppose to look like

I go through dozens of logs a day worldwide, different climates, altitudes, fuel, boost, mods, and performance levels. So I get a lot of exposure to the good, the bad and the ugly.

If I get one more person that asks me how to log I might either shot myself or in fury grab the GoPro and do a How to Log using MHD and COBB.

BQ- Here's a log I have from February. I'll try to get a couple next week as well. It should be in the 80s.

1. ETS 5" FMIC
2. ER charge pipe, forge diverters, stock air intake with Cobb Drop in
3. Stock inlets and outlets
4. CPE catted down pipes
5. Stock exhaust (disconnected flapper module)
6. Crap winter 93 octane with zero additional E85 (i sometimes add 1 gallon when i'm likley to run the car "hard").

Thank for all the knowledge you share with the community!

[EDIT] I forgot the most important thing; ambient temp was just about 40*f

I noticed this log shows a lot of timing pulled on cylinder #6.. Don't know if that's a problem, but it looks odd.

Just an anomaly. Any ONE log may have something atypical show its head but I don't have any trending cyl 6 timing issues (or timing pull in general). Its pretty aggressive timing for fuel/mods none the less and has since been toned down to just a touch more aggressive than the BEF "race" timing tables.
