Can this be repaired by sanding/buffing?

Long story short, hit a pole and the rear bumper flexed, but didn't actually crack or dent.
However, looks like the paint or maybe just the clear coat flexed enough to crack
Any thoughts if this can be sanded down to minimize it?
Don't want to start and realize I shouldn't have before it's too late.

Thanks!

Sorry to hear about the damage, the exact same thing happened to me when someone stole my car. Unfortunately, mine was cracked straight down to the bumper. I'm going to sand it out, putty it, get a close paint match, and try to airbrush the the area for a temporary cheap fix.

If it isn't driving you completely crazy, I'd just leave it since paint is a ton of work. I'm curious as to whether or not there's a way to fill the cracks and then buff it kinda like filling a cracked windshield though.

There are some bumper repair specialists who might be able to fix that. I doubt it could just be buffed out, but a repair shop might be able to do their magic and fill the cracks and polish them, similarly to scratch repair.

Another solution is bumper replacement. I've purchased front and rear bumpers on ebay from the shops that paint them to order and ship them folded up. I think I paid $200 for the front and $275 for the rear. I'm happy with the quality of both parts, the plastic was thick and fitment was perfect! My front bumper was nearly an exact color match and I was extremely happy. The rear bumper was too light and almost had a purple tint to it, however they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee which they lived up to. I ended up sending a sample cut from my original bumper and they sent me a replacement repainted to match perfectly.

Unfortunately there is no easy way to repair damage like this. Your best bet is to get a new bumper since there is a dent and that will also be difficult to repair
