No Response from Control Unit Error

From out of the blue, I can not get a connection to read codes in both INPA and ISTA. I figured it might be my cable so I bought a bimmergeeks cable to no avail. The black dots show it is connected and the Ediabas server is running.

I get this message in INPA when I try reading simple errors. Any ideas what could be the problem? I'm stumped, Thanks.

I also noticed the BimmerGeeks cable I bought doesn't look like what is posted online.
And it has a button and not a switch

Bimmergeeks responded:

Button pushed in is left on the old switch, Unpushed is right on the switch which is for E90.

I tried both to no avail.

I also: 1)Re-installed driver 2)Checked that latency is 1ms and set to Com1 Port 3)I tried another laptop

Maybe buy another cable? I'm stumped

My car did this when I left the battery disconnected for 5 days.
I disconnected the battery and reconnected it and it went back to normal.
have you checked all the pins are straight on your OBD plug?

Yes all the pins are straight I checked each pin and wire. I also disconnected the battery and didn't seem to help

Turns out I'm not going mad, the cable they sent was defective. I had an Amazon cable sent next day and it works perfect!!! The cable must be defective or it was damaged during shipment. I tried two different computers to confirm the problem is the cable. Glad this is over.
