found this on the website--oil changes

Oil change at 15,000-mile or 18-month intervals

That should cut down on the costs of the free maintenance.

It's under the X3, either motor.

I change my oil every day after I come home from work, or every 50 miles. Sometimes this requires that I pull over on the highway and change my oil, but trust me going more than 50 miles without an oil change is harmful. All the engineers who designed these cars and the oil companies are in a giant conspiracy. I am smarter than all of them and can reference wikipedia and other internet shit for days to prove my point.

I'm thinking, it used to be you got an oil change at the 1 yr. mark regardless of mileage. Then BMW tried to get the semi low-mileage cars out of the loop with a strange over 6,000 per year, you're not low mileage and you don't need an oil change for free (I think many were baffled, and next thing you know that policy is retracted). So now, you wont be getting it for free for 1 1/2 yrs., when you don't reach 15k. The time interval was increased by 50%.

This is about as crazy as Charlie Sheen! WTF did this come from? Looks like we got some bi-polar action on the forum as well. I myself would not go 18 mos. without an oil change, and it's the same motor as before. The engineers have nothing to do with it, it's the bean counters extending the service interval. You got any videos on youtube we can watch so we can win like you?

If you borrowed my brain for five seconds, you’d be like, ‘Dude! Can’t handle it, unplug this bastard!’ It fires in a way that’s maybe not from, uh… this terrestrial realm.

Must be due to the obligatory 8 speed slushbox & electricly boosted steering on both models.

I'll stick with my MT, hydraulic steering and one year OC intervals.

Wait, so there's no more low-mileage oil changes until every 1.5 years? I was told two weeks ago by my SA I could get a low mileage oil change two months from now, a day after my initial in-service date...

There is....they tried to do away with it if you went OVER 6,000, but under 15,000. But then that was retracted...my car must have been within a window because it got changed in August, and then 1,800 miles later in November...asked the dealership to explain and they can't, they said that's what the CBS said to do...

They did my oil change in August too and did another one last week which was 1000 miles later.

Awesome, I hate oil changes. I am comfortable with doing an oil change every 15k miles. I am not worried at all about engine wear (at least for non turbo cars) and the fact that they recommend the same interval for NA and turbo engine shows that the oil is really resistant to degradation.

Come on guys these cars won't have engine problems, you will have to get rid of them because of electronic/sensor problems way before engine is worn out.

I hit one year since my last change this week and got a free low milage oil change. I put 3500 miles on it in a year. I know Mini changed their policy in Sept to 18 months (it was 12 months).

i think it was at 15k and at 35k......

my dealer didn't care about the 1 year low-mileage garbage rule.....

if the onboard computer count is "0"....then they'll do it......

no big deal.....i do my own oil change every 5k miles.......
