E90 328i Heavier Steering feel and Increased Yaw movements.

Hey all,

I've been recently watching this issue where my steering is now heavier and is producing increased yaw movements on uneven paved roads going at slow speeds. (The curse of New York nowadays)

Little history.

recently did a power steering flush with CHF, felt great getting the old nasty fluid out replacing the reservoir cap gasket to stop the seeping fluid from leaking.

After that, I've changed my wheels as well from a 16" to 18" wheels. Never got around to doing an alignment yet of yet however.

Back to the present.
Now these issues aren't present when on the highway. hence why I haven't gotten the alignment as of yet. Big question is, where is my issue in all this?
In the few months I'm planning to upgrade control arms to M3 bits for a sort of upgrade including bushings etc..

Any insight is appreciated.

Ray

I believe our alignment specs do vary depending on wheel size, don't claim to know why. So I would finish your upgrades, control arms etc, then get it aligned for the new wheel size.

Hey thanks a lot for that advice. Seems the best way to go at this point.

Update:

I installed a new set of Continental DWS tires (Non rft's of course) yesterday and that Yaw movement stuff is apparently gone! Going specifically to Brooklyn tonight to test that theory lol

Switching from Brickstones (the OEM runflats) to Contis provided worlds of difference in control. You went all the way to regular tires, things should be a lot better. Still, get those new tires aligned before you run a spot into them.

Brickstones! And yes they are night and day difference.

The shop that performed the installation did check my alignment and they reported it is off by like 0.1 deg. But yea I should get.
