335Xi Performance Exhaust Install - DIY

Finally I pulled the trigger on a BMW performance exhaust. UPS delivered a truly massive box to me today. Most of the space is taken up by packing material - I pulled out the shiny bits for a closer look. Not pictured are the 5 clamps which will be used to reassemble the exhaust once the stock exhaust is cut off.
My local independent BMW repair shop (near Seattle WA) quoted $300 to install the exhaust - so I have decided to just do it myself. The benefit to this community will be a DIY since I'll take lots of pics and explain how I installed it. Might take a couple of weeks before I have time to get to this, but I'll update the thread once I do.

Cheers,

I was pleased to buy from a vendor who supports this forum - Jon @ bmwpartspros.com
The cost was $1240, included shipping. I have been watching prices for a while now and this seems to be a good price. Reeves BMW and Tisher too were close - about a hundred or so more.

Sounds very loud on cold start. Enough to have people look at you funny. Lasts like 30 seconds. Then it's just a bit louder. From inside, no drone per say, I hear it with windows up, I did not use to hear the stock exhaust. The bigger chrome tips look much better. I have PPK installed, and the burble when you lift your foot off the gas is just crraaaazzzy. I like it every time. I'va had it for 4 months.

+1 on everything here. It does sound like a boat on cold start and tones down as the engine heats up. I like that they developed the system to amplify only the good sounds out of the exhaust. That means no- to little drone on low revs. To the untrained eye, the system looks the exact same as the stock exhaust, but there are a lot of strategically spaced dimples in the barrels and pipes. The center resonator is also removed and replaced with crosspipes. The single best thing is the burble during decelerations and downshifts.

I will have time to install this weekend, so look for a review shortly after that.
S3RI35 - thanks for the link to a DIY for an E92. Its certainly looks similar - but my kit came with an additional pipe not mentioned in that DIY. Clearly the E90 kit is a little different.
