Can you check compression on an engine stand?
I blew up my N55 engine (wasn’t my fault, trans failed and forced the car into 2nd at 85 mph) anyway, I found a used N55 motor for a great price on FB marketplace. Says it has a new crank and new bearings, and he has photos and receipts for them. Says he’s selling it as he swapped a 2JZ into his car.
Can I safely jump the starter and do a compression test? I’m assuming the answer is obviously yes, but is there anything else I should be aware of or look out for? |

It might move around and smack if it's on chains you but otherwise (without fuel and with oil) it should be absolutely fine. I couldn't think of anything that could go wrong tbh.
