Hi All,

Something that bugs me at the moment is I'm not entirely sure how to Jack up on all 4 corners or even just the both rear corners. I've spent a while before trying to do l it but there's always an issue either with the M Sport heigh or the fact you can't lock the front wheels.

I have raised the car from the front jack point quite high and then slipped an axle stand on the rear jack point and then (I think) I did the same to the other side.. Or the car may have been too low at that point I really can't remember. But anyway, does anyone have a good way to do this without doing anything sketchy like Jacking or resting the car on arms?

On my E46, I would raise car at the rear left pad, place jack under front left pad. Drop rear left back on ground and do the same on right side. Raise at rear right pad and place jack under front right pad. Then go to rear center under differential and raise the rear. Place jack on both rear pads. There is significant torquing of the châssis doing it that way. But does the job.

Or get 2 hydraulic Jacks, 2 people working together raise the rear and put Jacks on either pads.

There's a jack point underneath the engine. Lift from there and you can put both front stands at the same time.

There's a centre jacking point under the engine, and you lift the whole rear by jacking under the diff.

Ah right, so your jack isn't long enough to reach the centre jacking points?

2 solutions; buy a low entry & long reach jack, or use small ramps to raise the car enough to get your jack under and start lifting.

The chances are your jack will do it, but to start lifting you'll only be able to use a tiny bit of movement in the handle. I can lift the front or rear of my car using some homemade ramps which raise the car by ~40mm, then lifting with my super cheap and nasty halfords jack (neither low profile nor long reach).

Yeah, that would make sense. I bet a long reach low profile would have done it, I'll have to keep my eye out for one. I remember jacking the front, I had to remove the handle and use a ratchet untill the front bumper was high enough to use the handle haha.

Yep, sounds familiar. I only get maybe 1/4 of the total handle stroke when I start jacking my car up with my jack...

I would say though; there's more space at the rear, so jack the front first, and put that on axle stands under the jacking points, then jack the rear. Jacking the rear first will make the front lower when you go to lift it.

buy a longer jack.

my daytona jack from HF is long enough to reach under my e91 on coilovers.
Block rear wheels.
jack the front, place stands
jack the rear, place stands

done. on four jackstands in ten minutes.

been really happy with th jack for the price point. very solid, have lifted 6K lb trucks with it and no issues.

Haha. I actually bought my friend one of those jacks, and I borrow it sometimes. It was around £100 on eBay UK, unbranded. It reaches all the jacking points no bother, but you still don't have an abundance of handle travel when you start jacking on either of the centre points. Solid jack though!

Omega 29023 is the one...but it's far from cheap and rarely available in the UK.

yeh ive had probs with a trolley jack at rear,,so i bought another bmw jack,,one for each side,,but my drive is sloped,,when raising the 2 jacks at same time ie jacking one side a few turns then the other,,the twat collapsed on nearside,,nearly taking out the sill cover,,cannot believe it bent and never cracked it,,the jack plastic thats sits n the jack point broke,,must be with sitting on a sloped drive,,god i hate my drive,, sometimes take my car to my dads round the corner,,his drive is flat

I jack one side with my smaller jack, then get the big one underneath the engine, remove the smaller jack and place two axle stands under the car.
From memory, i can slide the main jack under the rear diff without jacking it.
